More than a century ago, a lovely young Georgia aristocrat named
Jane Carroll Heard came to the Indian Territory. She was the bride
of Fred Severs Clinton, a handsome blue-eyed blond who was part
Creek Indian, from the village of Red Fork on the Arkansas River.
Their union was not only a lifetime affair of the heart, but an
alliance of remarkable talents and abilities which would play a
major role in transforming the little frontier village of Tulsey
Town, I.T., into a booming mid-American city known as "The Oil
Capital of the World." This is the story of Jane Heard Clinton, and
of the people and values that molded her character and influenced
her life. It is also the story of her life with her beloved Fred,
and of the city they helped to build at the bend of the Arkansas
River.
