“Powerful, brilliantly plotted, voicey, gripping, beautiful, heart-wrenching, hilarious . . . Read this book.” -Liz Lawson, New York Times bestselling author of The Agathas
When Jo-Lynn Kirby 's former best friend-pretty, nice Maddie Price-comes to her claiming to be in trouble, Jo assumes it's some kind of joke. After all, Jo has been an outcast ever since her nude photos were leaked-and since everyone decided she deserved it. There's no way Maddie would actually come to her for help.
But then Maddie is gone.
Everyone is quick to write off Maddie as a runaway, but Jo can't shake the feeling there's more to the story. To find out the truth, Jo needs to get back in with the people who left her behind-and the only way back in is through Hudson Harper-Moore. An old fling of Jo's with his own reasons for wanting to find Maddie, Hudson hatches a fake dating scheme to get Jo back into their clique. But being back on the inside means Jo must confront everything she'd rather forget: the boys who betrayed her, the whispers that she had it coming, and the secrets that tore her and Maddie apart. As Jo digs deeper into Maddie's disappearance, she's left to wonder who she's really searching for: Maddie, or the girl she used to be.
Not Like Other Girls is a stunning debut that takes a hard look at how we treat young women and their trauma, through the lens of a missing girl and a girl trying to find herself again.

Italian accounting has a long and honourable tradition of
theoretical and applied analysis of the accounting and reporting
function, perceived and defined much more broadly than in the
Anglo-Saxon tradition. The high point of this perhaps, is the
creation of what is known as Economia Aziendale (EA). The
antecedents, genesis and later developments are presented here in
detail by highly knowledgeable specialists in the field. EA takes
as a prerequisite the necessity of the business (entity/azienda) to
ensure its own long-run survival. This requires that the necessary
resources are retained and preserved, so operating capital
maintenance, by definition future-oriented, is essential. It
requires a focus on the particular business organization,
entity-specific and consistent with today's notion of the business
model. Entity-specific information relevant to current and future
cash flows is a necessary pre-requisite for ensuring long-run
survival, which historical cost accounting, or fair value (being
market-specific not entity-specific) satisfactorily achieve.
Flexibility of valuation and of reporting, always relevant to the
specific asset at the specific time in the specific place, is a
necessary condition for effective management. This is exactly the
focus of EA and its analysis and tradition. Scholars and advanced
students of international regulation and accounting, as well as
accounting history, will find this an invaluable guide to a
vibrant, scholarly tradition of great practical relevance today.
Multi-Threaded Object-Oriented MPI-Based Message Passing Interface:
The ARCH Library presents ARCH, a library built as an extension to
MPI. ARCH relies on a small set of programming abstractions that
allow the writing of well-structured multi-threaded parallel codes
according to the object-oriented programming style. ARCH has been
written with C++. The book describes the built-in classes, and
illustrates their use through several template application cases in
several fields of interest: Distributed Algorithms (global
completion detection, distributed process serialization), Parallel
Combinatorial Optimization (A* procedure), Parallel
Image-Processing (segmentation by region growing). It shows how new
application-level distributed data types - such as a distributed
tree and a distributed graph - can be derived from the built-in
classes. A feature of interest to readers is that both the library
and the application codes used for illustration purposes are
available via the Internet. The material can be downloaded for
installation and personal parallel code development on the reader's
computer system. ARCH can be run on Unix/Linux as well as Windows
NT-based platforms. Current installations include the IBM-SP2, the
CRAY-T3E, the Intel Paragon, PC-networks under Linux or Windows NT.
Multi-Threaded Object-Oriented MPI-Based Message Passing Interface:
The ARCH Library is aimed at scientists who need to implement
parallel/distributed algorithms requiring complicated local and/or
distributed control structures. It can also benefit
parallel/distributed program developers who wish to write codes in
the object-oriented style. The author has been using ARCH for
several years as a medium to teach parallel and network
programming. Teachers can employ the library for the same purpose
while students can use it for training. Although ARCH has been used
so far in an academic environment, it will be an effective tool for
professionals as well. Multi-Threaded Object-Oriented MPI-Based
Message Passing Interface: The ARCH Library is suitable as a
secondary text for a graduate level course on Data Communications
and Networks, Programming Languages, Algorithms and Computational
Theory and Distributed Computing and as a reference for researchers
and practitioners in industry.
The book provides a unified presentation of algorithms for association rule and sequential pattern discovery. For both mining problems, the presentation relies on the lattice structure of the search space. All algorithms are built as processes running on this structure. Proving their properties takes advantage of the mathematical properties of the structure. Mining for association rules and sequential patterns is known to be a problem with large computational complexity. The issue of designing efficient parallel algorithms should be considered as critical. Most algorithms in the book are devised for both sequential and parallel execution. Parallel algorithm design takes advantage of the lattice structure of the search space. Partitioning is performed via lattice recursive bisection. Database partitioning is also used as an additional source of parallelism.Part of the motivation for writing this book was postgraduate teaching. Since the book only assumes elementary mathematical knowledge in the domains of lattices, combinatorial optimization, probability calculus, and statistics, it is fit for use by undergraduate students as well. The algorithms are described in a C-like pseudo programming language. The computations are shown in great detail. This makes the book also fit for use by implementers: computer scientists in many domains as well as industry engineers.
Combines research with pedagogy to provide an accessible and
comprehensive introduction to the topic for students approaching it
for the first time. With a focus on the cognitive side of language
contact, drawing on the closely related subjects of bilingualism
and multilingualism, this textbook will also appeal to students
beyond those taking Language Contact modules, on modules such as
Bilingualism and SLA. The closest competitors all published at
least 11 years ago, so this will be far and away the most
up-to-date textbook on the market, combining cutting-edge insights
from research with a core grounding in the subject.
The Routledge Handbook of Language Contact provides an overview of
the state of the art of current research in contact linguistics.
Presenting contact linguistics as an established field of
investigation in its own right and featuring 26 chapters, this
handbook brings together a broad range of approaches to contact
linguistics, including: experimental and observational approaches
and formal theories; a focus on social and cognitive factors that
impact the outcome of language contact situations and bilingual
language processing; the emergence of new languages and speech
varieties in contact situations, and contact linguistic phenomena
in urban speech and linguistic landscapes. With contributions from
an international range of leading and emerging scholars in their
fields, the four sections of this text deal with methodological and
theoretical approaches, the factors that condition and shape
language contact, the impact of language contact on individuals,
and language change, repertoires and formation. This handbook is an
essential reference for anyone with an interest in language contact
in particular regions of the world, including Anatolia, Eastern
Polynesia, the Balkans, Asia, Melanesia, North America, and West
Africa.

This book considers the theme of exhibitions as political
resistance as well as cultural critique from global perspectives
including South Africa, Latin America, Eastern Europe, USA, and
West Europe. includes contributions by ten authors from the fields
of art history, social sciences, anthropology, museum studies,
provenance research, curating and exhibition histories. examines
exhibition reconstructions both as a symptom of advanced
capitalism, geopolitical dynamics, and social uprisings, and as a
critique of imperial and capitalist violence. Art historical areas
covered in the book include conceptualism, minimalism, modern
painting, global modernisms, archives, and community arts. will be
of interest to a wide range of audiences including art historians,
curators, gallery studies and museum professionals, but also
scholars and students from the fields of anthropology, ethnography,
sociology, and history. It would also appeal to a general public
with an interest in modern and contemporary art exhibitions.
Online television streaming has radically changed the ways in which
programs are produced, disseminated and watched. While the market
is largely globalized with some platforms streaming in multiple
countries, audiences are fragmented, due to a large number of
choices and often solitary viewing. However, streaming gives new
life to old series and innovates conventions in genre, narrative
and characterization. This edited collection is dedicated to the
study of the streaming platforms and the future of television. It
includes a plethora of carefully organized and similarly structured
chapters in order to provide in-depth yet easily accessible
readings of major changes in television. Enriching a growing body
of literature on the future of television, essays thoroughly assess
the effects new television media have on institutions, audiences
and content.

From Frank's Place through Soul Food and Girlfriends, the increased
involvement of African Americans in the production of television
images has impacted the way television portrays the diversity of
American life. Yet little research has been done to explore how
minority television workers see their role as creators. This book
explores television and race from the perspective of industry
writers, producers, directors, and executives. Listening to those
directly involved in bringing diversity to television helps uncover
the process whereby difference is created and recreated in both the
workplace, and on the television screen. Suitable for classes in
race, gender, media, media culture, diversity and the media, and
African Americans and popular culture, the book will also be of
interest to those wishing to enter the television industry,
providing insight from workers who have succeeded in an
increasingly competitive business.
