Triple bill of horror films. In 'Devil Riders' (2009), lawyers
Robert (Bertie Higgins) and Allen (J.D. Rudometkin) go on a
five-stop motorcycle poker run, along with their wives Susan (Debra
Hopkins) and Cheri (Jasmine Waltz), but on the way they encounter
psychopaths Ray (Robert Thorne) and Billy (Jay Wisell). Before long
Susan and Cheri are kidnapped and Robert and Allen are put through
their paces in a number of horrific challenges as they attempt to
get their wives back. In 'The Maze' (2010), five teenagers decide
to explore a corn maze one night. Unbeknown to them, however, a
murderous lunatic lurks within the maze and is luring them to their
deaths. Will any of them make it out alive? In 'The Goatman
Murders' (2011), a group of friends on a road trip to Florida
experience some car trouble and end up in the Maryland countryside
where an axe-wielding murderer, who is half-man, half-goat, begins
to kill them one by one. Will there be any survivors?
Former Secretary of State for Education Kenneth Baker claims that
secondary education has become a five-year programme with a single,
narrow aim: to prepare pupils for high-stakes GCSE exams at 16.
From 2015, all young people will be legally required to stay in
education or training until they are 18. Kenneth Baker sees this as
a historic opportunity to re-think the aims and structure of
English education. He argues that the National Curriculum should
extend only to the age of 14 and that there should be four distinct
pathways from 14-18 to take account of young people's emerging
interests talents and ambitions: Liberal Arts; Technical; Sports
and Creative Arts; and Career. All pathways will provide a broad
education, but each will have a distinctive character matched to
the talents and ambitions of individual students. In 14-18 - A New
Vision for Secondary Education, Kenneth Baker builds a compelling
case for reform, with contributions from a range of educationalists
who draw on the history of English education, practice elsewhere in
the world, and their experiences. An essential read for anyone
interested in the future of secondary education.
Queen Victoria was the first in a new breed of Cunard Ships: her
design is enhanced to give her the ability to cross the North
Atlantic. Introduced to service in 2007, Queen Victoria's reign is
young; however, she has had a notable career with royal
engagements, tandem Atlantic crossings and Gala-World Cruises where
she has been welcomed with open arms. Illustrated with stunning
colour photographs taken by the authors from every area of the
ship, and fully updated after the extensive 2017 refit, this book
provides a lasting memento of a voyage aboard Cunard's stately
monarch.
