This title is a beautiful illustrated anthology of verse and prose. This lavishly-illustrated and decorative collection brings together beautiful works of art that have been specially selected to accompany delightful pieces of verse and prose. It is a book that commemorates and reveres the role of mothers in families and in society. It is the ideal gift for every mother of any age, and for children at any stage of their lives, who remember their mothers with love and gratitude. This charming anthology is a celebration and commemoration of motherhood - its joys and anxieties, its excitements and surprises, happiness and sorrow, sweetness, pain, laughter and tears. The book is illustrated with beautiful paintings of mothers in all their glory, pictured with their children; nursing sleeping infants, feeding a lively family, playing with red-cheeked toddlers, reading bedtime stories. The quotations include poetry, letters, thoughts and prose epiphanies from mothers, grandmothers and children - whether grown offspring remembering their own mothers, or mothers exploring their feelings about childbirth, parenting, and special daughters and sons. Often, everything that is good in us is passed on to us by our mothers, and our memories of our own mother infuses every act of love, generosity and care through our lives.
Weakly Wormit had an appalling name and quite unkind parents. He was also very small for his age. He was bullied at school particularly after he accidentally dyed his hair green. Rescue came in the shape of Isabelinda, a friend in his class at school and the two of them embarked on an unexpected adventure. This involved letting long locked up monsters escape from a forbidden shed. The monsters then terrorised the village and tore out peoples hair whatever colour it was. Only Wormit with his green hair appeared to be unattractive to the monsters. Isabelinda and all the villagers are left bald and frightened to go out in the street. Only Wormit could roam the streets without being attacked. He had to find a plan to capture and put them back in their shed. Eventually he had an idea and he enticed them to attack a blonde wig which he had obtained. With this aid he managed to imprison them again and he buried the key of the shed so that it will not be found. He was now the hero of the village. The villagers hair grew back. Wormit's green hair faded. He was Isabelinda's best friend.
This authoritative reference source covers all higher education themes in a comprehensive, accessible and comparative way. It maps the field for the twenty first century reflecting the massive changes that have occurred and the challenges ahead for future research. It provides a rich diversity of scholarly perspectives and covers the entire spectrum of higher education from a geographical, a topical and disciplinary perspective. It is unrivaled in its capacity to go beyond national boundaries and provides indispensible comparative analyses. The major reference works available about higher education have been published more than two decades ago and since then higher education has undergone major changes that have resulted in a much larger, diverse, global, and multidimensional reality. One of the main trends has been relentless expansion on a worldwide scale. This has led to mass higher education becoming a reality across continents, substantial growth in the number of countries with universal access to higher education, and great diversification of the student body. The tremendous increase in the international links in higher education, through issues such as training, students' mobility, staff mobility, research activities, is another major change. The consequence is a global dimension that is strongly associated with the intensification of international networks in which institutions and researchers explore, create and share knowledge. As a result of the changes and trends, higher education has increasingly become part of debates that highlight its complexity as an institution that combines relevant political, social, economic, and cultural purposes and dimensions. Asked to play important and varied economic and social roles, higher education has had to reshape its priorities, and organizational and decision-making structures. The growth and increased complexity of the field have both led to more attention being paid to all aspects of higher education and to the expansion of research.
