An exploration of the role of the news media in the development
of EU-China relations after the end of the Cold War, this book
provides empirical evidence to support what Nye and Anholt have
argued: that branding a country's image is soft power. The author
examines the nature of European Union and China coverage in Chinese
and European news media respectively and explores how the
economics, politics, and journalistic practice interplay in shaping
the coverage. Based on this analysis, the author delves into the
relationship between the news media and their foreign policy toward
each other in terms of both the general direction of policy-making
and the policy in a specific issue area. Including not only content
analysis of media coverage, but also has first-hand interview
materials with the officials involved in the decision-making
process and the journalists involved in reporting the EU and China,
the book sheds light on the way in which the media construct the
post-Cold War world and therefore play a role in transforming
international relations.
Bayesian Demographic Estimation and Forecasting presents three
statistical frameworks for modern demographic estimation and
forecasting. The frameworks draw on recent advances in statistical
methodology to provide new tools for tackling challenges such as
disaggregation, measurement error, missing data, and combining
multiple data sources. The methods apply to single demographic
series, or to entire demographic systems. The methods unify
estimation and forecasting, and yield detailed measures of
uncertainty. The book assumes minimal knowledge of statistics, and
no previous knowledge of demography. The authors have developed a
set of R packages implementing the methods. Data and code for all
applications in the book are available on www.bdef-book.com. "This
book will be welcome for the scientific community of
forecasters...as it presents a new approach which has already given
important results and which, in my opinion, will increase its
importance in the future." ~Daniel Courgeau, Institut national

including different types of applications, device classes, physical
environments, mobility levels, and carrier frequencies. The authors
describe how RAN slicing can be utilized to adapt 5G technologies
to such wide-ranging circumstances. The book covers a wide range of
topics necessary to understand RAN slicing, including: Physical
waveforms design Multiple service signals coexistence RAN slicing
and virtualization Applications to 5G vertical industries in a
variety of environments This book is perfect for telecom engineers
and industry actors who wish to identify realistic and
cost-effective concepts to support specific 5G verticals. It also
belongs on the bookshelves of researchers, professors, doctoral,
and postgraduate students who want to identify open issues and
conduct further research.

The refereed proceedings of the 7th European Conference on Symbolic and Quantitative Approaches to Reasoning with Uncertainty, ECSQARU 2003, held in Aalborg, Denmark in July 2003.The 47 revised full papers presented together with 2 invited survey articles were carefully reviewed and selected for inclusion in the book. The papers are organized in topical sections on foundations of uncertainty concepts, Bayesian networks, algorithms for uncertainty inference, learning, decision graphs, belief functions, fuzzy sets, possibility theory, default reasoning, belief revision and inconsistency handling, logics, and tools.
This book is to start a revolution for humankind to win the war
against common cold. For individual readers, you now have a very
effective method to free you from the common cold very quickly. It
is the fact that common cold is caused by over 200 cold viruses. It
has a long history of making virtually everyone to suffer from this
most common disease. However, it is a simple disease. This book
explains why common cold is a simple disease. It is cold viruses to
cause this disease, and the problem is mainly in the nose. More
precisely, it is the surface of the nasal cavity to have
inflammatory reactions. For treating the common cold, doctors
currently have no antiviral drugs. There is no vaccine to prevent
the common cold. Individual patients must take some approaches to
reduce the suffering from the common cold. This book presents the
breakthrough medical study in the non-medical language so the
general public will have an easy time to understand that the new
therapy is very effective Its efficacy is much better than the
current drugs, such as anti-inflammatory drugs. This non-drug
method can be used to prevent common cold as well. Readers will
learn how to use this simple method to be free from the cold. In
the book, these different products in that category are compared,
so the readers will have the information and an easy time to select
the best tool to cure the common cold. This book helps you, the
readers, to overcome the fear of cold viruses, and encourages you
to take the responsibility to free you from the week long
suffering. After you read this book, you will learn the simple
procures and may be able to cure your own cold safely, easily,
effectively, quickly, and economically within two days This book is
to share a non-drug physical therapy. Physically removing viruses
and inflammatory factors from your nasal cavities is the key to
cure your cold. You may be able to go back to work or school next
day if you follow the instructions. The author declared a war
against the common cold on October 28, 2011. All members of human
society will be united to fight and win this war. Thank you for
actively fighting the war against the common cold.

Visual attention is a relatively new area of study combining a
number of disciplines: artificial neural networks, artificial
intelligence, vision science and psychology. The aim is to build
computational models similar to human vision in order to solve
tough problems for many potential applications including object
recognition, unmanned vehicle navigation, and image and video
coding and processing. In this book, the authors provide an up to
date and highly applied introduction to the topic of visual
attention, aiding researchers in creating powerful computer vision
systems. Areas covered include the significance of vision research,
psychology and computer vision, existing computational visual
attention models, and the authors' contributions on visual
attention models, and applications in various image and video
processing tasks. This book is geared for graduates students and
researchers in neural networks, image processing, machine learning,
computer vision, and other areas of biologically inspired model
building and applications. The book can also be used by practicing
engineers looking for techniques involving the application of image
coding, video processing, machine vision and brain-like robots to
real-world systems. Other students and researchers with
interdisciplinary interests will also find this book appealing. *
Provides a key knowledge boost to developers of image processing
applications * Is unique in emphasizing the practical utility of
attention mechanisms * Includes a number of real-world examples
that readers can implement in their own work: * robot navigation

Deutsch, Abstract: English: This Work gives a theoretical and
practical overview about the price system of Deutsche Bahn
Fernverkehr AG. Three models - Nesting, EMSR and Single-Leg - will
be described and illustrated by many examples. Deutsch: Die Arbeit
Key-Words: Pricing, Yield-Management,
Nesting, geschachtelte Kontingentierung, EMSR, Expected Marginal
Seat Revenu, Single-Leg, Deutsche Bahn AG, Fernverkehr 1 Einleitung
Unternehmens. Entscheidungen des Managements der Bahn werden
regelmassig kritisch hinterfragt. Die vorliegende Arbeit soll diese
Entscheidungen anhand dreier fundierter Modelle theoretisch
vorstellen: Nesting-Modell, Single-Leg-Modell und Expected Marginal
Seat Revenue Modell (EMSR). Im Anschluss werden diese Modelle
sodann mit einem praktischen Bezug am Unternehmen ausfuhrlich
erlautert. 3 Theoretische Grundlagen des Pricing- and
Yield-Managements In diesem Abschnitt sollen die theoretischen
Grundlagen erortert werden. Begonnen wird dabei mit den allgemeinen
Voraussetzungen des Pricing- and Yield-Managements.
