Biomechanics in Dentistry: Evaluation of Different Surgical Approaches to Treat Atrophic Maxilla Patients (Paperback, 2013... Biomechanics in Dentistry: Evaluation of Different Surgical Approaches to Treat Atrophic Maxilla Patients (Paperback, 2013 ed.)
Muhammad Ikman Ishak, Mohammed Rafiq Abdul Kadir
R1,597 Discovery Miles 15 970 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This book shows computational finite element simulations to analyse the strength of implant anchorage for intrasinus and extramaxillary approaches under various occlusal loading locations and directions. Three-dimensional model of the craniofacial area surrounding the region of interest, soft tissue and framework are developed using computed tomography image datasets. The zygomatic and standard dental implants are modeled using a conventional computer-aided design software and placed at the appropriate location. Material properties are assigned appropriately for the cortical, cancellous bones and implants with Masseter forces applied at the zygomatic arch and occlusal loadings applied on the framework surface.

Computational Biomechanics of the Wrist Joint (Paperback, 2013 ed.): Mohd Nazri Bajuri, Mohammed Rafiq Abdul Kadir Computational Biomechanics of the Wrist Joint (Paperback, 2013 ed.)
Mohd Nazri Bajuri, Mohammed Rafiq Abdul Kadir
R1,597 Discovery Miles 15 970 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This book presents an analysis of the stress distribution and contact stresses in severe rheumatoid wrist after total wrist arthroplasty. It assesses and compares the load transfer throughout the joint and contact pressure at the articulations. The data obtained from this study is of importance as this provide greater evidence to the benefits of total wrist arthroplasty in rheumatoid arthritis patients.

Finite Element Analysis on Badminton Racket Design Parameters (Paperback, 1st ed. 2016): Fakhrizal Azmy Nasruddin, Muhamad Noor... Finite Element Analysis on Badminton Racket Design Parameters (Paperback, 1st ed. 2016)

This work identifies the characteristics of racket design parameters that influence racket performance. It presents the finite element analysis of several designs of badminton rackets and compares them to experimental results for validation. Designing a racket requires a comprehensive understanding of racket performance characteristics. Essentially, racket performance is related to the sweet spot, which is the spot on the racket head that produces the most power and control when it strikes a shuttlecock. Determining a coefficient of restitution can help to identify the sweet spot on a racket. By analyzing several head shape designs, it becomes apparent that isometric head shape rackets produce better coefficients of restitution compared to oval and round ones. It is recommended that the racket design consist of low string tension, stiffer racket shafts and bigger head size in order to produce higher shuttlecock speed.

Wear Prediction on Total Ankle Replacement - Effect of Design Parameters (Paperback, 1st ed. 2016): Amir Putra Bin MD Saad,... Wear Prediction on Total Ankle Replacement - Effect of Design Parameters (Paperback, 1st ed. 2016)
Amir Putra Bin MD Saad, Ardiyansyah Syahrom, Muhamad Noor Harun, Mohammed Rafiq Abdul Kadir
R1,760 Discovery Miles 17 600 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This book develops and analyses computational wear simulations of the total ankle replacement for the stance phase of gait cycle. The emphasis is put on the relevant design parameters. The book presents a model consisting of three components; tibial, bearing and talar representing their physiological functions.

Computational Biomechanics of the Hip Joint (Paperback, 2014 ed.): Mohammed Rafiq Abdul Kadir Computational Biomechanics of the Hip Joint (Paperback, 2014 ed.)
Mohammed Rafiq Abdul Kadir
R1,545 Discovery Miles 15 450 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This book presents analyses of the most commonly reported failure modes of hip stems: loosening and thigh pain; both are attributed to the relative motion and instability at the bone-implant interface due to failure to achieve sufficient primary fixation. The book investigates various factors that could affect primary stability and therefore the long-term outcome of hip arthroplasty. The results complement experimental work carried out in this area as in-vitro experiments have several limitations that could be addressed through computer simulations.
