Two-movie collection featuring Disney's classic
live-action/animation and the 2016 remake. In 'Pete's Dragon'
(1977) lonely orphan Pete (Sean Marshall) finds a new friend in a
surprising form: Elliott (voice of Charlie Callas), a 12-foot tall
dragon that has the power to make itself invisible. Together they
innocently cause chaos in their sleepy home town, but their
partnership is put in jeopardy when visiting medicine seller Dr
Terminus (Jim Dale) tries to kidnap Elliott. In 'Pete's Dragon'
(2016) young boy Pete (Oakes Fegley) is found by forest ranger
Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard) after having lived in a forest for the
last six years alongside his best friend, a dragon called Elliot
(voice of John Kassir). After taking him home to try and find his
family, Grace is shocked to learn of the dragon's existence.
However, when Elliot comes under threat from a hunter (Karl Urban),
Pete, Grace, her father Meacham (Robert Redford) and lumber mill
owner Jack (Wes Bentley)'s daughter Natalie (Oona Laurence) set out
to protect him.
Triple bill of zombie films. 'Zombie Apocalypse' (2011) is a
made-for-TV horror starring Ving Rhames in which a group of human
survivors of a zombie outbreak set out to make it to an uninfected
island. Ramona (Taryn Manning), Billy (Eddie Steeples) and Kevin
(Gerald Webb) are almost killed when they head out to search for
food. Fortunately for them, they meet a tough group that includes
Henry (Rhames) and Cassie (Lesley-Ann Brandt), who take on the
zombies with weapons as diverse as a sledgehammer and a samurai
sword. 'Abraham Lincoln Vs Zombies' (2012) is a tongue-in-cheek
zombie horror in which Abraham Lincoln is distracted from his
composition of the Gettysburg Address by a more pressing concern -
an outbreak of the undead. Lincoln (Bill Oberst Jr.) leads a team
of Secret Service agents to the area to try and contain the
disaster. There is a suggestion that Lincoln may have some
experience of dealing with zombies from his past and he takes under
his wing a youngster by the name of Teddy Roosevelt (Canon
Kuipers), who may have a role of his own to play in the American
story. 'The Dead' (2010) is a zombie horror set in West Africa.
Robert Freeman stars as Lieutenant Brian Murphy, a military
engineer who finds himself stranded in the wilderness of Burkina
Faso after a zombie outbreak lays waste to civilisation. Eventually
he teams up with Sergeant Daniel Dembele (Prince David Oseia), a
local soldier who has gone AWOL from the army to search for his
missing son.
A Disney production mixing animation with live action. Lonely
orphan boy Pete (Sean Marshall) finds a new friend in a surprising
form: Elliott, a 12-foot tall dragon that has the power to make
itself invisible. Together they innocently cause chaos in their
sleepy hometown, but their partnership is put in jeopardy when a

An outstanding photography book documenting a movement that rocked
the world. Syd Shelton: Rock Against Racism is a body of
photographs that Syd Shelton produced for and about the British
Rock Against Racism movement (RAR) of 1976-1981. For Shelton, this
work was a socialist act, what he calls a "graphic argument," on
behalf of marginalized lives. His practice of photographic activism
began in 1973 when he was driven to document the socio cultural and
political dynamics expressed on the streets of Sydney by urban
Australian Aboriginal communities, the working class, and the
architectural landscapes of these groups. Shelton's first solo show
in 1975, "Working Class Heroes" at the Sydney Film-makers
Cooperative, established his distinct activist eye. Shelton joined
RAR in early 1977 on his return to England from Australia. He did
so because he found his birthplace a more racist country than it
had been when he left. This was marked by the increased political
presence of the National Front, notably its gain of some 119,000
votes in the Greater London Council Elections of May 1977. Shelton,
like millions of others, feared for the future of multi-cultural
Britain. His contribution to RAR was to be on the London committee,
to create graphic material with other RAR members such as the RAR
publication "Temporary Hoarding," posters' badges and his
photography-RAR did not have an official photographer. Shelton's
instinctive need to document RAR-its events, contributors, and
supporters-has resulted in the largest collection of images on the
movement. Alongside his documentation of RAR, Shelton took
photographs of what he calls "the contextual images," the lives and
landscapes that were defined by others as "different," and that
often fueled racist acts of violence by simply being. What is
presented here are Shelton's authoritative visual statements as
participant-photographer on the social tempo in Britain at this
time and the activist potency of RAR. As collective activism, RAR's
success was dependent on individual contributions to fuel the
movement's activities across the country. This unique national, and
eventually international, charge incorporated the visual dynamic of
how Black and white RAR contributors and participants styled their
bodies as another antagonistic tool against racism. These were acts
of style activism-the making of an activist identity through the
considered composition of clothes, accessories, hairstyles, makeup,
and body language. Shelton's images prompt us to remember that the
individuals at RAR carnivals, gigs, and demonstrations were the
event-they were RAR. There are many versions of what RAR was and
its legacy. Syd Shelton: Rock Against Racism provides an
auto/biographical telling of that historical moment. It reflects on
how Shelton's work as a photographer contributed towards social
change at a critical moment of political and racial tension in
Britain.
Due to the requirements of automatic system design, and new needs
for the training of complex tasks, Cognitive Task Analysis (CTA)
has been used with increasing frequency in recent years by the
airline industry and air traffic control community. Its power is
reflected in the literature on professional training and systems
design, where CTA is often cited as one of the most promising new
technologies, especially for the complex cognitive tasks now
confronting those working in aviation. The objective of this book
is to bridge the gap between research and practice, to make what we
know about CTA available to practitioners in the field. The book
focuses on cognitive psychology and artificial intelligence
analyses of aviation tasks. It is designed to help readers identify
and solve specific design and training problems, in the flight
deck, air traffic control and operations contexts. Distilling
experience and guidelines from the best aviation cognitive analyses
in accessible form, it is the first comprehensive volume on CTA,
and is written for practitioners of cognitive analysis in aviation.
It provides an overview of analyses to date; methods of data
collection; and recommendations for designing and conducting CTA
for use in instructional design, systems development, and
evaluation. The first part of the book provides the principles and
foundations of CTA, describing traditional approaches to task
analysis and ways that cognitive analyses can be integrated with
the analysis and development processes. The next part details how
to: select the appropriate method or methods; determine job tasks
that can be trained for automatic performance; extract knowledge
structures; analyse mental models; and identify the decision-making
and problem-solving strategies associated with experienced job
performance. The authors also describe when to use and how to
design and conduct a cognitive task analysis; how to use CTA along
with traditional task analysis and ISD; and how to use CTA in
training program development and systems design, as well as in
personnel selection and evaluation. The current demand for
cognitive analyses makes this a timely volume for those in aviation
and, more generally, the industrial development and training
communities. Readers will find this a thorough presentation of
cognitive analyses in aviation and a highly usable guide in the
design, implementation and interpretation of CTA. The book will be
useful to instructional developers, aviation equipment and systems
designers, researchers, government regulatory personnel, human
resource managers, instructors, pilots, air traffic controllers,
and operations staff.

Delegation is the first comprehensive monograph by Apsaalooke/Crow
artist Wendy Red Star, whose photography recasts historical
narratives with wit, candor, and a feminist, Indigenous
perspective. Red Star centers Native American life and material
culture through imaginative self-portraiture, vivid collages,
archival interventions, and site-specific installations. Whether
referencing nineteenth-century Crow leaders or 1980s pulp fiction,
museum collections or family pictures, she constantly questions the
role of the photographer in shaping Indigenous representation.
Including a dynamic array of Red Star's lens-based works from 2006
to the present, and a range of essays, stories, and poems,
Delegation is a spirited testament to an influential artist's
singular vision. Copublished by Aperture and Documentary Arts
Systems of capitalism are conceived as formed under certain broad
logics that apply to all, but which then interpret those logics in
distinct ways society by society, seen as the society's own
processes. Such processes cluster into three categories: an
inspiring context; a transformative capacity; and empowered action.
The political role is that of balancing the influences across the
total. Each inspirational influence adds a key contribution, as
with benevolent empowering authority, and critical thinking.
Transformative capacity is built by: innovativeness and
cooperativeness; and stable decentralized authority flows from
communicative action, spontaneous emergent ordering; and
competitive productivity. Societal progress may be explained in
terms of the integrated workings of these processes to yield an
ethically legitimate structure for the prosperity-driven creating
and distributing of wealth. Two main stereotypes are examined to
compare their workings and their outcomes: the Western free market
democratic, and the Chinese party-state driven.
John "Red" Shea, 40, was a top lieutenant in the South Boston Irish
mob run, led by James "Whitey" Bulger. An ice-cold enforcer with a
red-hot temper, Shea was a legend among his peers in the 1990s
South Boston, as much as John Gotti, Bugsy Siegel, and Al Capone
were in their time and place. When the actor and producer Mark
Wahlberg, raised in nearby Dorchester, learned of a script based on
Shea's life circulating in Hollywood, he immediately committed to
playing the gangster on screen. A major feature film project is now
in development.
From the age of thirteen, when he started robbing delivery
trucks, to the age of twenty-seven, when he began serving a
twelve-year federal sentence for drug trafficking, Shea was a
portrait in American crime - a bantam-weight, red-headed terror,
brutal with his fists and deadly with a lead pipe, a baseball bat,
or a knife. At fifteen he was selling marijuana . At seventeen he
was handling Bulger's cocaine. At eighteen he was loan sharking and
laundering Bulger's money. At twenty, initiated into Bulger's inner
circle at the point of an Uzi, he was running a multimillion-dollar
narcotics operation for his mentor.
RAT BASTARDS was the first-ever, firsthand account of mob life
that wasn't told by a rat. Red Shea did his crime, then did his
time--and never informed, unlike Henry Hill of Wiseguy, Sammy "The
Bull" Gravano of Underboss, and so many others. Holding fast to the
code of his upbringing, he remained a man of honor.
Acutely aware of the changes in English usage at the close of the
Victorian era, the lexicographer James Redding Ware (1832-1909)
decided to record for posterity new and archaic words and phrases
from all walks of life, from the curses in common use by sailors
and the rhyming slang of the street to the jargon of the theatre
dandies. Where else would you turn to learn the meaning of 'Bow-wow
mutton', 'Air-hole', 'Lally-gagging' and 'Damper'? Ware's
dictionary, first published in 1909, is a treasure trove of the
everyday language of the nineteenth century, showing the influence
of American English on Victorian slang as well as historical and
innovative words and phrases. While it presents numerous
expressions now obsolete, and some terms and definitions in the
idiom of the era which would not now be considered acceptable, it
also uncovers the origins and meaning of many slang words still in
use today. Reproduced in facsimile with an introduction by John
Simpson, Chief Editor of the Oxford English Dictionary, this
dictionary provides a fascinating and highly entertaining witness
to the colourful history of unofficial English.
This book explores 50 years of Irish women's prison writing,
1960s-2010s, connecting the work of women leaders and writers in
Northern Ireland during the Troubles. This volume analyzes
political communiques, petitions, news coverage, prison files,
personal letters, poetry and short prose, and memoirs, highlighting
the personal correspondence, auto/biographical narratives, and
poetry of the following key women: Bernadette McAliskey, Eileen
Hickey, Mairead Farrell, Sile Darragh, Ella O'Dwyer, Martina
Anderson, Dolours Price, Marian McGlinchey (formerly Marian Price),
Aine and Eibhlin Nic Giolla Easpaig (Ann and Eileen Gillespie),
Roseleen Walsh, and Margaretta D'Arcy. This text builds on
different fields and discourses to reimagine gender and genre as
central to an interdisciplinary and intersectional prison archive.
Centering Irish women's prison writings, in order to challenge
canonization in history and literature, this volume argues that
women's lives and words offer a different view of gender and nation
as well as offer a fuller and more inclusive archive of Irish
history and literature. Additionally, this book will point to the
ways in which their politics of everyday life and their cultural
work is a form of anti-colonial civil rights feminism, for it
speaks truth to power in a world in which compliance and silence
are valued. Overall, this text focuses on rethinking and recasting
women's voices and words in order to document and promote the
ongoing Irish freedom struggle from an abolitionist feminist
perspective.
