Musculoskeletal foot pathology is endemic in patients with
rheumatological conditions, with up to 90% of patients reporting
current foot pain. However, foot pathology is often trivialised,
despite the strong body of evidence showing foot problems are
associated with reduced quality of life. The Foot and Ankle in
Rheumatology is a unique, comprehensive, and detailed guide to all
aspects of the management of foot and ankle pathologies in
rheumatic conditions. Written by a team of leading experts, this
title provides international perspectives and current state of the
art information on foot and ankle pathology across a range of
conditions. With over 170 colour images and photographs, practical
diagnostic and management techniques are clearly explained with
references to the latest guidelines. Rheumatology is a
fast-evolving field, with major advances in treatment and
management strategies. As the effective management of
rheumatological foot and ankle disorders requires and integrated,
disease-stage approach across a multidisciplinary team, the Foot
and Ankle in Rheumatology has been designed to provide clear,
practical, and evidence-based advice for a wide range of health
professions, from podiatrists, rheumatologists, and orthopaedic
surgeons to occupational therapists and physiotherapists.
This is a uniquely helpful and accessible guide to taking control
of your own foot health by holistic heath innovator Yamuna Zake. We
don't need doctors, orthotics or even surgery to relieve common
foot problems, such as plantar fasciitis, bunions, neuromas,
arthritis, hammertoes, and flat feet. By learning a correct gait
that uses the entire foot to distribute weight, we can relieve and
prevent common foot problems without any medical intervention. The
book offers an easy-to-follow 4-week program of routines that take
just 15 minutes a day during the program and allows readers to fix
their feet and take ownership of their body. Each of the four weeks
focuses on a different part of the foot: the heel, the arch, the
ball and the toes. There are 3-4 exercises in each section and
readers try them all and can choose to focus on those exercises in
each section that they enjoy most. This programme is then supported
with mindful foot practices to ensure bad habits don't return. Six
common foot problems are also explored, including their causes
(specific incorrect walking patterns) and ways of preventing and
relieving them (exercises plus mindful practices). You won't find
any medical concepts or terminology in this book, nor do you need
to learn complicated foot anatomy. The whole program is based on
what you already know: walking. You'll learn how to walk and stand
correctly and to use every part of your feet as nature intended.
That's all you need to do!

WARNING: YOUR FEET MAY BE KILLING YOU - LITERALLY. Too often a
person's walk with diabetes ends with an amputation of a lower
limb. Author Peter Allton, a Podiatrist with over 27 years'
experience, says: "I find it shocking and alarming that in 2015,
one person every 20 seconds is undergoing a lower limb amputation
because of their diabetes. Equally shocking, and yet exciting to
me, is the fact that up to 85% of these could have been avoided.
That is why I founded Undefeeted to have an impact on that
statistic, one foot at a time. To achieve that, I have to get
personal with you on an individual basis and help you apply the
principles of Undefeeted by helping you live in what I call the
Diabetic sweet spot. Within the pages of this book, you will find a
step-by-step guide to living in the sweet spot. You will learn why
it is important to know: how diabetes can affect your feet; what
your personal risk is; and how to act to minimise that risk. Don't
let diabetes defeet you; instead, take control and continue living
an active life doing the things you enjoy with those you love. STAY
UNDEFEETED!"
In modern society, an increasing number of people are afflicted by
painful foot disorders, and one of the most common disorders when
it comes to our feet is Hallux Valgus, also known as bunions.
Sooner or later, approximately 25 % of the population develop this
painful condition, but current scientific research within the field
has yet to come up with an unequivocal answer to why we develop
bunions.
Up until now, the recommended treatment has been to use different
orthopedic aids, or to restore the angle of the toe joint by a
surgical procedure - often followed by a long period of
convalescence. Unfortunately, surgery is no guarantee that the
condition doesn't return.
This book presents a new, proven and simple method for preventing
and treating Hallux Valgus, without any need for surgery and/or
expensive orthopedic aids. In this book, both the theory behind the
method and the different exercises that constitute the treatment
are described.
Throughout the span of 2009 to 2013 Dr. Thomas F. Vail, a board
certified foot surgeon, published articles for the 'Weekend
Edition' of The Courier newspaper, in Findlay, Ohio. A practicing
podiatrist in the community for over 25 years, Dr. Vail shared his
knowledge and insight into particular foot ailments concentrating
on how to diagnose and treat the most common conditions seen in his
practice. This book organizes his articles in a convenient
reference book that will help families understand their foot pain
and the best treatments that are available. From childhood thru
adult Dr. Vail tackles everything from sports injuries to ingrown
toenails. Foot pain is not normal Gain peace of mind and keep this
book handy as each of your family takes it's over 216 million steps
in a lifetime.
