Unison Colour Pastel Fixing Spray is a colourless, non-yellowing fixative for pastel. It's also suitable for use with pencil, charcoal, crayon, chalk drawings and paintings.

This fixing spray helps to protect from smudging, moisture and UV damage. It has a clear, matt finish.

For Charcoal, Pastel, Pencil and Chalk: Unison Fixative is used both during and after the drawing process. Apply to the work in progress to ‘fix’ layers and prevent smudging: allow a minute to dry then continue. The final coat will help protect the finished picture from airborne moisture and from smudging.

Remember, if you are working vertically, the dust does fall downward and will come to rest on the lower areas of your art, so be sure to tap from the top down. If the nozzle plugs up, just scratch it gently with your fingernail or another small object and remove any clots. Then spray again. The alcohol in the formula will dissolve any remaining blockage.Workable FixativesFixatives allow you to fix your work at a certain point and continue working, or to seal the artwork to protect it. This is a ‘Workable fixative’, which will add a toothy texture to your artwork. This is useful when the surface of the paper has become saturated, so that no more pencil will apply. If you apply a spray of workable fixative, this will add tooth back on top.Please note: a few customers have found that the spray bottle could be better - our Continuous Fine Mist Sprayer works very well to eliminate the problem. A NOTE ABOUT THE DESKTOP PENCIL SHARPENER:

The sharpness of the lead point can be adjusted by turning the ribbed screw that passes through the crank handle.

Turning this screw fully anti-clockwise gives the sharpest point of 0.5mm. Turning the screw fully clockwise gives the least sharp of 4.8mm (sometimes preferred for colour pencils). Positions in between will vary the sharpness of the point.

The machine is delivered from the factory with the screw turned fully clockwise so as to avoid damage. Although instructions are provided and there is a sticker to draw attention to this feature, users tend to overlook this information and immediately conclude that the machine is faulty.
