This Faber Castell Sandpaper Block consists of a block of wood with two bloacks of sandpaper mounted onto it. Sandpaper is an effective way to create a point on charcoal, pastels, crayons or difficult-to-sharpen drawing pencils. It is also a simple way to control the angle of the point on your pencil. The papers are of different grades, fine and coarse, and are designed for sharpening fine lead points, charcoal sticks, soft pastels and pastel pencils, none of which sharpen well in conventional pencil sharpeners. Each block of sandpaper contains approximately 8 sheets.This sharpener measures 15.5cm in total with a width of 3cm, the sandpaper blocks are 88mm in length. This Faber Castell 9000 sharpener has two sharpening holes and is suitable for coloured pencils and graphite pencils. It has a compartment which will catch the shavings from wood-clad pencils. When not in use, the sharpening apparatus will slide down into a plastic case so that graphite dust cannot fall out of the sharpening holes.Because the leads of graphite pencils are hard and resistant to breakages, they can take a very fine point. For pencils such as these, the Castell 9000 has a fine point sharpener, which will sharpen pencils to a 21 degree point. For coloured pencils, which have softer leads, this product also has a shorter point sharpener.
