'Sweeney Todd - The Demon Barber of Fleet Street' (2007) tells the tale of Benjamin Barker (Depp), a barber who returns to London after spending years in exile for a crime he didn't commit.

He soon discovers from pie-maker Mrs Lovett (Bonham Carter) that, in his absence, his wife has taken her own life and his daughter is now in the care of the man who had him sent away - the dastardly Judge Turpin (Alan Rickman). Seeking revenge and filled with a murderous rage, Barker sets up a barber's shop above Mrs Lovett's premises. Now calling himself Sweeney Todd, Barker kills off all his customers with a razor to the throat and sends their cadavers to the shop below to be used as a tasty new filling for Mrs Lovett's meat pies.

What was once the worst pie shop in London quickly becomes one of the city's most popular eateries, but Barker won't be satisfied until he can lure Judge Turpin into the barber's chair... Finally, in 'Dark Shadows' (2012), when playboy Barnabas Collins (Depp) breaks the heart of the beautiful Angelique Brouchard (Eva Green), an old family curse is released as Angelique, a witch, turns Barnabas into a vampire before burying him alive. Two centuries later, Barnabas is inadvertently freed and emerges into the very changed world of 1972.

Matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard (Pfeiffer) has enlisted the services of live-in psychiatrist Dr Julia Hoffman (Bonham Carter) to help with her numerous family problems - but between Elizabeth's loser brother, Roger Collins (Jonny Lee Miller), her rebellious teenage daughter, Carolyn Stoddard (Chloë Grace Moretz), and Roger's precocious ten-year-old son, David Collins (Gulliver McGrath), Dr Hoffman has certainly got her work cut out.

Director Marc Price's British zombie horror, made on a micro-budget of 45 pounds, told from the zombie's perspective. Alastair Kirton stars as Colin, a young man who joins the ranks of the living dead after being attacked by a zombie. Through his encounters with objects, places and people, the film shows who Colin was and, more pertinently, what he has now become. Although more thoughtful than most zombie films, there's still plenty of gruesome shocks on offer, and this small, independent effort was a big hit at 2009's Frightfest film festival.

Horror directed by Jason Bognacki. On her 18th birthday, Jordyn Ames (Paulie Rojas) learns that everyone around her has been lying about who she really is. After discovering that she is the daughter of Satan, Jordyn is plunged into the dark depths of the underworld where, disturbingly, she realises she truly belongs. The cast also includes David Landry, Maria Olsen and Lillian Pennypacker.

Cult horror directed by David Cronenberg. Frank Carveth (Art Hindle)'s wife Nola (Samantha Eggar) is being treated at an institute run by the eccentric psychologist Dr Raglan (Oliver Reed), who is known for using bizarre techniques to break down defensive barriers in the psyche of his patients. After Nola's parents are brutally killed and his daughter returns from a visit to her mother covered in bruises, Frank comes to suspect that his wife and Raglan are up to no good. What he discovers is stranger still: a group of cloned midgets, apparently spurred on by Nora's psychopathic rages, are responsible for the attacks. Since no one else will believe him, it is up to Frank to try and put an end to the violence...

The teenage residents of Aurora, Illinois regularly gather at the drive-in movie theatre for a bit of Saturday night fun. This week it's a cheesy old western being screened, but there's an added attraction sure to get the kids' attention: someone is on the rampage with a large oriental sword, knocking off the moviegoers one by one, and in a variety of imaginative ways. Who could it be? Suspects include a voyeuristic truck driver and a theatre manager with a chip on his shoulder.

When a group of people with extreme fears hear about a man called Dr Andover (Englund) who has built a chamber designed to cure phobias, they travel to his clinic and begin treatment. The unconventional therapy consisting of induced hallucinations seems to work at first, but when some of the patients still find themselves struggling with their fears one year on they return to the clinic to try again. As the patients restart their treatment they discover that not everyone can be cured...

Found footage horror in which a pair of young couples on holiday in rural England decide to try and capture the supernatural events that are the subject of local legend. When Emma (Emily Plumtree) and her fiancé Scott (Matt Stokoe) decide to take a trip to the remote cottage that belonged to her deceased grandfather, they invite James (Sam Stockman) and Lynn (Jessica Ellerby) along for the ride. James and Lynn are having relationship difficulties, a situation unlikely to benefit from the fact that James has had a crush on Emma since childhood, but more spectacular problems soon take centre stage. Drawn to film at an abandoned local monastery and a hollowed out old tree by the power of local myths, the curious foursome may well find that the tales they've been told are not as far-fetched as they seemed.

When Katie (Katie Featherston) and her boyfriend Micah (Micah Sloat) move into a new house in the suburbs of San Diego, Katie worries that a ghostly presence that has haunted her since her youth has followed her to their new home. She hires paranormal experts to help her, but Micah decides to take matters into his own hands and attempts to capture any supernatural phenomena on camera. However, his involvement only serves to taunt the demons that haunt Katie, and before long the situation has escalated into a horrific nightmare from which no one can save them.

Gruesome horror written and directed by Jeff Buhler. Jesse Metcalfe plays Jack, a man who poses as a mental patient in an attempt to free his sister from the asylum in which she is being held. Once inside, Jack is shocked to discover that a doctor (Peter Stormare) is administering patients with experimental drugs, turning them into violent, flesh-eating killers. Can Jack and his sister escape from the hospital before the blood-thirsty psycopaths make their kill?
