The idea of this book started with the listed rod and reel records
of the catch of Striped Bass of 60 pounds or more. Investigation
showed many of these men and women who caught these big bass have
passed on or can't be found and their stories lost. It became
obvious that a 60-pound plus Striped Bass caught by rod and reel
was a rare event. So rare that I could not find a 100 after looking
through all sought of outdoor media information. If so rare a catch
was registered, the story of the catch must be just as unique.
After interviewing many of these men and women, I realized that
each story contained the passion of its angler and the
determination of its foe, the Striped Bass. These rare stories
should be preserved; once lost, they will be gone forever. They
contain passions from real men and women who have spent countless
days, months or even years seeking this trophy.
T.E. Pritt's timeless classic The Book of the Grayling has inspired
generations of fly-fishers. First published in 1888, it was long
considered the definitive book of the subject of grayling. Pritt
drew from a long and rich Northern English tradition of fly-fishing
in the limestone rivers and streams of Yorkshire. Many of the
methods and techniques he describes are still to be found in use
today. This new edition of The Book of the Grayling makes Pritt's
eloquent prose available to fly-fishers and armchair adventurers
the world over.
"Fishing's Greatest Misadventures" presents twenty-six true stories
which cover the spectrum from terrifying to comical to downright
bizarre. In these pages everyday fishermen, pros, and journalists
tell their stories of freak accidents, fishy attacks, pranks,
idiotic decisions, eerie or unexplained incidents, and other jaw
dropping, adrenalin-pumping calamities. The stories bring to life
the strange possibilities that await us once we cast our lines into
known and unknown waters.Inside these pages you'll meet: a sport
fisherman who gets taken on harrowing underwater ride by an angry
white shark; an adventure angler whose boat is over turned by a 200
lb Amazon-river catfish; a group of ice fishermen who lose their
cabin, gear and pride to a single sturgeon; a teenager who
sabotages a fish farm and frees 300,000 salmon; and a charter boat
operator who gets speared through the chest by a leaping marlin.
From lakes to rivers to the ocean, this book covers every form of
angling, and all that can go wrong.
Add to your library & knowledge of sport-fishing, as you learn
how to create simple & effective strategies, for your favorite
lakes & rivers. How to make Sand Bag Sinkers, get comfortable
Ice Fishing, learn how to apply Palomar knots, and much more.
Canadian professional angler Gary Carl Love, along with his company
Jackfish Lures, developed a successful fast paced system of
fishing. The System was designed to build confidence and skill on
the water. Use the system to catch a wide variety of fish species,
and enjoy the outdoors with family and friends.

Proving that fishing is not just a part-time pursuit, "At the Grave
of the Unknown Fisherman" takes us through a year with America's
favorite fishing scribe, John Gierach, who dedicates himself to his
passion despite his belief that "In the long run, fishing usually
amounts to a lifetime of pratfalls punctuated by rare moments of
perfection."
Beginning with an early spring expedition to barely thawed Wyoming
waters and ending with a New Year's Eve trip to the Frying Pan
River in Colorado, Gierach's travels find him fishing for trout,
carp, and grayling; considering the pros and cons of learning
fishing from videos ("video fishing seems a little like movie sex:
fun to watch, but a long way from the real thing"); pondering the
ethics of sharing secret spots; and debunking the myth of the
unflappable outdoorsman ("masters of stillness on the outside,
festering s***holes of uncertainty just under the surface").
With an appreciation of the highs, the lows, and all points
between, Gierach writes about the fishing life with wisdom, grace,
and the well-timed wisecrack. As he says, "The season never does
officially end here, but it ends effectively, which means you can
fish if you want to and if you can stand it, but you don't have
to." As any Gierach fan knows, want to and have to are never very
far apart.
The book is a combination of all the things pertaining to my
fishing for so many years. It is how I got started, what I learned,
who I met, what I caught, what interesting things happened. I am
not through learning or enjoying my life doing this. There is
always something new tomorrow.
The pictures are of the people that I knew, myself, odd things
we caught, or odd things that happened.

Since the arrival of Ponce de Leon in the 1500s, the Florida Keys
have evolved from a dense, nearly impenetrable jungle full of
bears, pumas, snakes, alligators and crocodiles into America's
Caribbean islands. And the fish in the region have made the Keys
one of the nation's favorite playgrounds for anglers. The Keys are
home to more saltwater fishing records than any other angling
destination in the world and offer sportsmen an array of amazing
fish, from tarpon and Spanish mackerel to mahi-mahi and bonefish.
U.S. presidents, celebrities and the world's greatest fishermen and
women have cruised the waters of South Florida. Join author Bob T.

This is the 1855 edition of "Blacker's Art of Fly Making" which
William Blacker, a London Tackle dealer, expanded considerably with
hand painted illustrations and - in his own words: "No man has
taken such pains to improve upon the angler's craft as I; on every
article in the whole range of fishing tackle I have made some
improvement on rods, flies, lines, reels, and tackle of every sort;
and in these pages have left a lasting memorial of my handicraft to
the fly-fisher, from whom I have hidden nothing that might retard
him in his progress, ..." (from the introduction to the 2nd
