Walking, by Henry David Thoreau - Akasha Classics,
AkashaPublishing.Com - I wish to speak a word for Nature, for
absolute freedom and wildness, as contrasted with a freedom and
culture merely civil - to regard man as an inhabitant, or a part
and parcel of Nature, rather than a member of society. I wish to
make an extreme statement, if so I may make an emphatic one, for
there are enough champions of civilization: the minister and the
school committee and every one of you will take care of that. I
have met with but one or two persons in the course of my life who
understood the art of Walking, that is, of taking walks - who had a
genius, so to speak, for SAUNTERING, which word is beautifully
derived "from idle people who roved about the country, in the
Middle Ages, and asked charity, under pretense of going a la Sainte
Terre," to the Holy Land, till the children exclaimed, "There goes
a Sainte-Terrer," a Saunterer, a Holy-Lander. They who never go to
the Holy Land in their walks, as they pretend, are indeed mere
idlers and vagabonds; but they who do go there are saunterers in
the good sense, such as I mean. Some, however, would derive the
word from sans terre without land or a home, which, therefore, in
the good sense, will mean, having no particular home, but equally
at home everywhere. For this is the secret of successful
sauntering. He who sits still in a house all the time may be the
greatest vagrant of all; but the saunterer, in the good sense, is
no more vagrant than the meandering river, which is all the while
sedulously seeking the shortest course to the sea. But I prefer the
first, which, indeed, is the most probable derivation. For every
walk is a sort of crusade, preached by some Peter the Hermit in us,
to go forth and reconquer this Holy Land from the hands of the
Infidels.

Your body is a magnificent living, self-healing ecosystem that is
under siege by toxic man-made chemicals. Our connection with nature
is being disrupted at the "quorum" cell language level of microbes
so we cannot maintain clean, healthy ecosystem functions.
Did you know that your cells are hardwired for superhealing at
the quorum cell level, a level ten times more powerful than stem
cells-and that the future of our victory over disease in this
dominant medical-profit system depends on your restoring the
ability of your cells to talk to one another?
Quorum Superhealing puts together a sober picture of how
man-made chemicals are disrupting quorum cell-to-cell communication
so you stay overweight, inflamed and sick.
Dr. Paul Yanick, who survived two nearly-fatal diseases,
reveals the shocking truth of how man-made pharmaceuticals and
chemicals shut down his kidneys at the age of twenty and evoked
near-fatal cancer. At the brink of death, he saved his life by
restoring the quorum language of cells. His terrifying experiences
became the catalyst for decades of research and this book which
tells an amazing story of how some of the worst, most-feared
diseases can be conquered by restoring quorum superhealing.

To some extent, the title Fin Feather and Field is
self-explanatory. Fin is more than fishing; it is an excuse to be
outdoors, not just to kill but to observe nature from diverse
angles. Feather is not just game-bird shooting but watching and
identifying birds, rearing semi-tame peacocks and gray partridges
till ready to fly, named Mustapha, Mr. Onion, and Paloma. Field
involves travel, monuments and wild life sanctuaries, tracking Tahr
in the Nilgiris and Bharal in snowbound North Sikkim. It is horse
riding, playing golf, trekking, and mountain climbing. It is
savoring a myriad cultures across India and some abroad; inviting
misadventure are part of Field. Autobiographical glimpses and
vignettes of army lifestyle find small nooks here and there. In
short, Fin Feather and Field is a celebration of the life given and
enjoyed to the hilt through over forty years, with minds open to
wonder, learning, never abandoning the mindfulness of "feeling" the
aura of strangers and places. Some of the best years lived in
tribal India on the Chota Nagpur Plateau, braving dacoits and
fearful gun-wielding Naxalites, are memorable parts of Field.
What could have been better for our family with three young boys
than spending time in and around Wawona, California within the
glorious Yosemite National Park? This is where we built our little
cabin and spent over twenty happy, adventure-filled years! We spent
every weekend, vacation and all of the holidays exploring the
natural beauty surrounding our picturesque cabin. We considered
Yosemite to be our back yard; it doesn't get much better than that!
Surrounded by so much natural beauty, we were drawn into the
day-to-day life of Yosemite National Park; we hiked, skied and even
played golf. For our family, such an adventure became even more
exciting as we met and befriended the other people who lived in
Yosemite; not to mention the animals deer, raccoons, coyotes, and
the bears who were also our neighbors. In "Memoirs of Our Cabin in
Yosemite"; and "Our Backyard Wilderness," the story of our years in
the cabin nestled in Yosemite National Park comes to life!

This book explains to the hillwalker, in easy to understand but
accurate terms, how geology has shaped the landscape of the Lake
District. A selection of fifteen guided walks is used to illustrate
this in terms of what can be seen on the ground. "Rock Trails
Lakeland", divided into two parts, is intended to help those who
love the Lake District's mountain scenery to understand how this
beautiful landscape came about. The first half narrates the story
of colliding continents, volcanoes, mountain-building and
glaciations in creating the Lakeland, explaining why volcanoes
occurred, the rocks they created and how to interpret signs of
mountain-building and glaciations on the ground. The second half
describes recommended walks of differing levels of difficulty, all
with a wide variety of geological features to be seen and, most
important, with consistently fantastic views of the very best of
the Lake District's wonderful scenery. The author has concentrated
on what you can see as you walk around the hills, highlighting
conspicuous, easily visible features in rocks as well as the
overall shape of the terrain while accounting for the present-day
landscape. This is the second book in the series from Pesda Press,
following the publication in 2008 of "Rock Trails Snowdonia"
(9781906095048).
