How To Grow Rich - 50 Ways To Debunk Money Myths And Master Wealth (Paperback): Douglas Kruger How To Grow Rich - 50 Ways To Debunk Money Myths And Master Wealth (Paperback)
Douglas Kruger
R397 Discovery Miles 3 970 Ships in 5 - 10 working days

The topic of wealth is divided into two sets of opposing solutions: the ones sold by smiling politicians who want your vote, and those quietly explained by entrepreneurs and businesses owners who have been through the mill and know what it takes to become extremely rich.

Douglas Kruger, bestselling author of Is Your Thinking Keeping You Poor? and Poverty Proof, returns with his hardest-hitting book yet. This take-no-prisoners exploration of how money works will challenge you on everything you think you know while arming you with economically sound principles for growing your prosperity. No holds are barred when it comes to discussing how governments, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa, keep people poor, and which deeply held belief systems promote poverty.

The book explores and debunks all the accepted clichés, which are more dangerous than you might think. It also asks what sort of society becomes prosperous, and what political moves inhibit wealth-building for individuals. And then we get to the gold: you, and how you can think, act and plan in order to radically transform your own wealth potential. It may be a bumpy ride, but the information in this book will change your life, your wealth and your entire worldview about money. When the outcome is the rest of your life, will you choose destitution? Or will you learn how to escape generational cycles of poverty and become a self-made, first-generation millionaire?

Robert T. Kiyosaki
R260 R232 Discovery Miles 2 320 Save R28 (11%) Ships in 5 - 10 working days

April of 2022 marks a 25-year milestone for the personal finance classic Rich Dad Poor Dad that still ranks as the #1 Personal Finance book of all time. And although 25 years have passed since Rich Dad Poor Dad was first published, readers will find that very little in the book itself has changed — and for good reason. While so much in our world is changing a high speed, the lessons about money and the principles of Rich Dad Poor Dad haven’t changed. Today, as money continues to play a key role in our daily lives, the messages in Robert Kiyosaki’s international bestseller are more timely and more important than ever.

While there is a milestone to commemorate — and a new section in the book on Why Milestones Are Important — preserving the integrity of the original content is testimony to the fact that this book has truly stood the test of time. The sidebars throughout the book (that were updated for the 20-year anniversary edition) have been updated again, but the core principles that parents and grandparents — those who embraced Robert’s story and messages 25 years ago — are sharing them with new generations who have found that its timeless wisdom and no-nonsense lessons can be applied to anyone’s life and their vision for a future that includes taking control of their finances.

People of all cultures and countries celebrate milestones. We use them to measure time, mark progress, reflect on the lessons we’ve learned, and celebrate accomplishments… and they give meaning to our life’s journey. They are a way that we integrate past, present, and future… looking back at where we started, where we are today… and the promise of all that the future can hold.

In the quarter century that has passed since Rich Dad Poor Dad was first published — 25 years since April 8, 1997 — so many things in our world have changed. But the one thing that has not changed is the pressing need for and the power of financial education. Money is still a mainstay of our lives, like it or not, and technology has brought both speed and innovations to the world of money. In an ever-changing world, we can all still get smarter when it comes to money… and learn as much as we can to secure our future.

Today Rich Dad Poor Dad consistently ranks among bestsellers around the world in the categories of Personal Finance, Parenting, and Investing, has been translated into 38 languages, and has sold more than 40 million copies worldwide.

Rich Dad Poor Dad is Robert's story of growing up with two dads — his real father and the father of his best friend, his rich dad — and the ways in which both men shaped his thoughts about money and investing. The book explodes the myth that you need to earn a high income to be rich and explains the difference between working for money and having your money work for you.

In many ways, the messages of Rich Dad Poor Dad, messages that were challenged and criticized 25 ago, are more meaningful, relevant, and important today than ever.

Rich Dad Poor Dad...

  • Explodes the myth that you need to earn a high income to become rich
  • Challenges the belief that your house is an asset
  • Shows parents why they can't rely on the school system to teach their kids about money
  • Defines once and for all an asset and a liability
  • Teaches you what to teach your kids about money for their future financial success

Corporate Law For Commerce Students (Paperback, 2nd ed): Adriaan Haupt, Nkhangweni Jerry Malange Corporate Law For Commerce Students (Paperback, 2nd ed)
Adriaan Haupt, Nkhangweni Jerry Malange
R670 Discovery Miles 6 700 Ships in 7 - 10 working days

The Companies Act (No. 71 of 2008), as now amended by the Companies Amendment Act (No. 3 of 2011), introduced many concepts, principles and rules that were foreign to South Africa's common law. However, the new Act does not indicate clearly to what extent it replaces the common law. Corporate Law For Commerce Students is thus a much-needed guide to the structure and fundamentals of the new company regime.

Corporate Law For Commerce Students covers three types of business venture, namely partnerships, companies and close corporations, which each carry different rights and obligations, and ultimately liabilities, for the entrepreneur. It discusses, inter alia, how to choose the right option for a specific business; the partnership concept, the establishment of a legal personality; compliance, transparency and accountability; shares, securities, stock and debt instruments; fundamental transactions, takeovers and offers; business rescue and compromise with creditors; and termination and dissolution - all within the framework of the new Companies Act and the common law. It includes figures, tables and mind maps to clarify each topic, and provides assessments at the end of each chapter.

Corporate Law For Commerce Students is aimed both at students who are studying Commercial Law, Business Entities or Corporate Law and practising accountants and auditors.

From veteran Amazon reporter for The Wall Street Journal, The Everything War is the first untold, devastating exposé of Amazon's endless strategic greed, its pursuit of total domination, by any means necessary, and the growing efforts to stop it.

For over twenty years, Amazon was the quintessential American success story, whilst its “customer obsession” approach made it indelibly attractive to consumers across the globe. But the company was not benevolent; it operated\ in ways that ensured it stayed on top, coming to dominate over a dozen industries beyond retail, growing voraciously by abusing data, exploiting partners, copying competitors, and avoiding taxes—leveraging its power to extract whatever it could, at any cost and without much scrutiny. Until now.

With unparalleled access, and having interviewed hundreds of people – from Amazon executives to competitors to small businesses who rely on its marketplace to survive – Dana Mattioli exposes how Amazon was driven by a competitive edge to dominate every industry it entered, bulldozed all who stood in its way, reshaped the retail landscape, transformed how Wall Street evaluates companies, and altered the very nature of the global economy.

In 2023, the Federal Trade Commission filed a monopoly lawsuit against Amazon in what may become one of the largest antitrust cases in the 21st century.

As Amazon’s supremacy is finally challenged, The Everything War is the definitive, inside story of how it grew into one of the most powerful and feared companies in the world – and why this is the most consequential business story of our times.

It explores how these new crypto “life-forms” will interact with the rest of the virtual and physical world, while making some very rich and some very poor.

The Law of Corporate Finance discusses, from a company law perspective, the provisions of the Companies Act 71 of 2008 relating to the field of shares, securities, and corporate finance. There have, thus far, been few major decisions of the courts providing guidance on this technical branch of company law. The Law of Corporate Finance unpacks the complexity of this field of law, while also examining the Companies Regulations and the common law principles preserved by the Companies Act. It offers a lucid and comprehensive treatment of this notoriously difficult subject. The Law of Corporate Finance is written to provide guidance to a wide range of persons seeking a proper grasp of both the principles of corporate finance as well as their practical application - from the judiciary, legal practitioners and legal advisors to auditors and accountants, from company directors and company secretaries to academics and students, whether undergraduate or postgraduate. The major company law topics in the field of corporate finance are discussed and analysed in this book. A highlight of The Law of Corporate Finance is that it includes a discussion of the legal remedies available to investors when the rules relating to corporate finance have been flouted. A further highlight is the practical examples that illustrate how corporate finance rules work and their shortcomings in specific situations. Due to the rapid globalisation of corporate law, a treatment of the legal position in leading foreign jurisdictions has been included, particularly those that have moulded the provisions of the South African Companies Act. These include English law, US law, Australian, Canadian and New Zealand law. This unique perspective provides an invaluable insight into the interpretation and application of the corporate finance provisions of the South African Act. Anyone seeking to understand the complex corporate finance rules will find this book to be useful and illuminating.

The Analytics of Risk Model Validation (Hardcover, New): George A. Christodoulakis, Stephen Satchell The Analytics of Risk Model Validation (Hardcover, New)
George A. Christodoulakis, Stephen Satchell
R1,793 Discovery Miles 17 930 Ships in 12 - 19 working days

Risk model validation is an emerging and important area of research, and has arisen because of Basel I and II. These regulatory initiatives require trading institutions and lending institutions to compute their reserve capital in a highly analytic way, based on the use of internal risk models. It is part of the regulatory structure that these risk models be validated both internally and externally, and there is a great shortage of information as to best practise. Editors Christodoulakis and Satchell collect papers that are beginning to appear by regulators, consultants, and academics, to provide the first collection that focuses on the quantitative side of model validation. The book covers the three main areas of risk: Credit Risk and Market and Operational Risk.
*Risk model validation is a requirement of Basel I and II
*The first collection of papers in this new and developing area of research
*International authors cover model validation in credit, market, and operational risk

Cash Return on Capital Invested - Ten Years of Investment Analysis with the CROCI Economic Profit Model (Hardcover): Pascal... Cash Return on Capital Invested - Ten Years of Investment Analysis with the CROCI Economic Profit Model (Hardcover)
Pascal Costantini
R2,346 Discovery Miles 23 460 Ships in 12 - 19 working days

In this book, Pascal Costantini gives a lively and wonderfully readable account of ten years of efforts by a small group of investment analysts to find a reliable, practical and implementable method for valuing and selecting shares. The result of their effort is an original investment methodology called CROCI (Cash Return on Capital Invested), best described as a variation of the economic profit model. For over a decade now, Costantinis group at Deutsche Bank has been using this valuation tool every time it has had to take a view on the pricing of an equity asset, be it a market, a sector or an individual sharein other words, every single working day, since it is this groups job to advise institutional investors on equity valuation. Costantini describes in detail, accompanied by concrete examples in the form of charts and graphs, the precise investment results of the actual implementation of the CROCI approach in the global equity markets since 1996. Readers will enjoy taking this journey with Costantini to see how and why the model was developed, assess the results of ten years of actual implementation and measure the successes of using this model in stock picking and portfolio construction. This book will also make it easy for them to see how the CROCI approach can be used successfully by others now and in the future.
The book is divided into four parts. The first part is a review and discussion of the fundamentals of investment analysis. The second part is dedicated to the construction of economic data, with the sole objective of calculating an economically meaningful asset multiple and relative return, the combination of which gives an economic PE ratio, the authors main stock selection tool. While the economic profit model is not exactly new, it is still largely ignored by the investment community. In essence, it does three things: it calculates the real amount of cash, or value created by a business; it compares the market value of an asset to an approximation of its replacement value; and it assumes that the former will converge to the latter through the arbitrage of investors and capital providers. The third part is dedicated to the analysis of economic data, and the last part deals with the actual implementation of the CROCI economic profit model, including real life examples. This final part also discusses how to use the output of the CROCI model with individual stocks, and then with investment portfolios.
