The Christian God is deeply and passionately concerned with justice
- it's his very nature and it's evident throughout the Bible. God
created a good world; a flourishing garden, in which there was no
evil and humans and all living creatures could thrive and prosper.
But evil did enter, humankind faltered, and there began God's great
fight - to win back our hearts and inspire us to join with him in
administering justice and bringing the fullness of life to
creation. The NIV God's Justice Bible explores this key character
trait of God and important area of Christian life. Alongside the
NIV Bible text, a global cast of scholars and justice fighters
contribute study notes, book introductions, questions for
reflection and prayers to inform, challenge and inspire. NIV God's
Justice Bible is designed to fire readers' passion for social
justice and take positive steps to bring justice issues to light in
their own circles of influence - all for the glory of God. The
writers come from every continent, representing organisations such
as International Justice Mission, Compassion and World Vision.
Well-known UK and US contributors include Krish Kandiah, Ron Sider
and Joel Edwards.
The NIV Study Bible, featuring Dr. D.A. Carson as general editor,

The New Century Youth Bible, first published in 1993, has
consistently been among the top three selling Bibles in the UK.
This revised edition brings the Youth Bible right up-to-date for
the twenty-first century. Whilst retaining the original Anglicized
text, this revised edition has over 25 of its Life Files replaced
or updated. There are also new categories on subjects such as
music, euthanasia and the environment.
The Codex Amiatinus and its "Sister" Bibles examines the full
Bibles (Bibles containing every scriptural text that producers
deemed canonical) made at the northern English monastery of
Wearmouth-Jarrow under Abbot Ceolfrith (d. 716) and the Venerable
Bede (d. 735), and the religious, cultural, and intellectual
circumstances of their production. The key manuscript witness of
this monastery's Bible-making enterprise is the Codex Amiatinus, a
massive illustrated volume sent toward Rome in June 716, as a gift
to St. Peter. Amiatinus is the oldest extant, largely intact Latin
full Bible. Its survival is the critical reason that Ceolfrith's
Wearmouth-Jarrow has long been recognized as a pivotal center in
the evolution of the design, structure, and contents of medieval
biblical codices. See inside the book.
Papers collected in this volume try to illuminate various aspects
of philosophical theology dealt with by different Jewish and early
Christian authors and texts (e.g. the Acts of the Apostles, Philo,
Origen, Gregory of Nazianzus), rooted in and influenced by the
Hellenistic religious, cultural, and philosophical context, and
they also focus on the literary and cultural traditions of
Hellenized Judaism and its reception (e.g. Sibylline Oracles,
Prayer of Manasseh), including material culture ("Elephant Mosaic
Panel" from Huqoq synagogue). By studying the Hellenistic
influences on early Christianity, both in response to and in
reaction against early Hellenized Judaism, the volume intends not
only to better understand Christianity, as a religious and
historical phenomenon with a profound impact on the development of
European civilization, but also to better comprehend Hellenism and
its consequences which have often been relegated to the realm of
political history.
