Schmincke recently launched a selection of supergranulating watercolour paints in their professional Horadam range. The distinctive feature of this range is that the paints are based on pigments that have a natural tendency to granulate. By combining two or more pigments in one paint, they complement and enhance the colour in combinations and create an incredible texture on the surface of the paper.

In order to achieve high standards regarding lightfastness, resolubility and stability, Schmincke Horadam watercolours contain only the finest raw materials. The paints are bound with Kordofan gum arabic from the southern Sahara. Due to the natural source of the binder, the gum arabic does tend to differ slightly year on year. Schmincke continually tests their ingredients and the best of the batch is selected to ensure the highest quality is achieved. This means paint which has dried onto your palette can be easily re-wetted and painted with again.

Sennelier Oil Sticks are made of artist quality oil paint. The proportion of the oil is substituted with a neutral mineral, resulting in the stick appearance.

These oil sticks contain the highest quality pure pigments ground into vegetable oils selected for their low degree of yellowing over time. Oil sticks offer the same advantages as oil paint. The suppleness of use enables you to experiment with a variety of techniques. Contrary to oil paint, the drying process for the surface colour film is rather quick; usually it takes a day. Before using an oil stick for the very first time, peel off the thin dry skin in order to release the paint. This thin layer will form again after you have used it.
