Albrecht Dürer artists' watercolour pencils provide artists with great versatility of expression when drawing, shading and painting in watercolours. High-quality materials, combined with over 250 years of experience, have resulted in watercolour pencils that produce unsurpassed watercolour effects and vibrancy. The coloured surface can be transformed with only a few fine or broad brush strokes to reveal the full and unique power of the colours. Depending on the paper being used, the pigments can be completely dissolved, and will then behave in the same way as classic watercolour paints.

Each colour is made with high quality gum arabic and glycerin, linden honey, distilled water and pure pigments. Every pan is hand filled and labelled with watercolour paper. Colours are made in small batches that allow them to be carefully checked. Every batch is tested for performance qualities: vibrancy, flowing abilities, viscosity, colour value, transparency, granulation, undertone, tinting strength, clarity and particle size. For each colour, Roman Szmal select the perfect grind to match the particle size.
Arches Aquarelle watercolour paper is acid-free and chlorine free, made of 100% cotton fibres which provide strength and stability. The paper is tub-sized in natural gelatine and air-dried, it can take scrubbing, scratching and erasing while keeping the original intensity of the watercolour. Arches Aquarelle uses no optical brighteners so it's natural white colour will not yellow with age and archival value is ensured. Arches Aquarelle is excellent for watercolour, gouache, pen and ink, acrylics and calligraphy.
This superb artist grade paper from Saunders Waterford has a watermark in the corner for authenticity and 4 deckle edges which are visually beautiful and perfect for float framing. Please note that while Saunders Waterford High White papers are noticeably whiter than the traditional Saunders Waterford paper, they still have a pale cream appearance. This is because it is not currently possible to whiten the paper to a bright white without compromising light-fastness by using Optical Brightening Agents. The whiter shade of Saunders Waterford High White paper is achieved by adding a high white lightfast pigment with good long-life properties, as used in some watercolour paints. Artists grade watercolour paper is archival which means it will not discolour or fall apart over time. It is made of 100% cotton rag. This paper is much more durable than lower grades of paper because it is gelatine surface sized and it is mould-made, both of which mean it can take scrubbing of the surface without falling apart. Saunders Waterford paper is endorsed by the Royal Watercolour Society. Please note, these sheets have a rough finish: they have a rough surface, and are not suitable for detailed watercolour painting. MaimeriBlu features an absolute purity of pigments that, together with gum arabic, compose the totality of the mixture. Imperceptible, transparent, clean. No blending powders, and no additives. Nothing harmonises or synchronises the shift between the various shades. The real value lies in the transparency of its colours and in the freshness of its washes. It is the whiteness of the paper that illuminates this type of painting. The light is behind the colour.
