Part I highlights the emerging role of power electronic apparatus
in power transmission and distribution networks. It also discusses
topics in modeling and simulation as pertaining to the utilization
of power electronics in large power networks.
Part II presents different power electronic converter assemblies
for power transmission and power quality enhancement. These are
presented in conjunction with suitable models which the readers
using the book for self-study need to conduct parametric analyses
or as a starting point for future research.
The aim of the book is to provide a new approach to
power-electronic systems, where modeling becomes an essential part
of the study process. The book therefore could be used in a
graduate-level course that discusses power electronic components in
