One of the most important functions that nurses have is the
handling and administration of all drug schedules for patients
under their care. Another vital function is the monitoring of their
patients’ responses to these drug schedules. Both functions are
crucial in making sure that patients under their care benefit
optimally from the drug therapy they receive. To ensure that nurses
are fully competent to carry out these critical functions of drug
handling, administration and evaluation, the content of this fourth
edition of Pharmacology for Nurses has been updated to include the
most recent developments in drug therapy. For example, the chapter
on administration of drugs to patients has been expanded.
Similarly, the section on therapeutic uses of alpha agonists now
includes subsections on cardiac arrest, as well as on hypotension
and shock.
’n Debuutbundel wat bekroonde skrywer Tom Dreyer onomwonde as digter vestig.
Mathematics for Young Learners, A Guide for South African Educators
is designed to be used by students in training and by teachers in
service in early childhood education and Grade R. It was developed
in line with the requirements set out by the Curriculum and
Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS), which sets out the curriculum
for Foundation Phase mathematics. To the student, this text
introduces the excitement and extensiveness of mathematics
experiences in programmes for young children. For teachers in the
field, it presents an organised, sequential approach to creating a
developmentally appropriate mathematics curriculum for preschool
and primary school children.
FROM THE AUTHORS OF THE BESTSELLING "CHIRUNNING, "A GAME-CHANGING
TRAINING GUIDE FOR INJURY-FREE LONG-DISTANCE RUNNING
In "Chi Marathon," Danny Dreyer, creator of the revolutionary
ChiRunning program, highly respected running coach, and
accomplished distance runner, takes a whole-body approach to
long-distance running--much like T'ai Chi--making ease and
efficiency of movement the prime goal of one's training. "Chi
Marathon "is the first book to focus not on building stamina first
(though that is covered here) but on how to run all those miles
without harming your body. A staggering 80 to 90 percent of
marathoners face injuries during their training. This book debunks
the myth that marathoners need to push through and beyond pain, and
presents a technique-based plan for pain- and injury-free,
high-performance half and full marathons. "Chi Marathon "also shows
how to improve your performance by developing your own
race-specific training plan tailored to your event, and will help
you cross the finish line feeling strong no matter your age, body
type, or running ability.
- Run a marathon or half marathon free of pain and injury
- Transform your racing with the training triad: form,
conditioning, and mastery
- Tap into your chi, an energy source more powerful and enduring
than muscles
- Teach your mind and body to work together as a team and master
your event
This is the book that distance runners have been waiting for. With
"Chi Marathon "you can enjoy the run and feel confident no matter
the distance.
Small States in the International System addresses the little
understood foreign policy choices of small states. It outlines a
theoretical perspective of small states that starts from the
assumption that small states are not just large states writ small.
In essence, small states behave differently from larger and more
powerful states. As such, this book compares three theories of
foreign policy choice: realism (and its emphasis on structural
factors), domestic factors, and social constructivism (emphasizing
norms and identity) across seven focused case studies from around
the world in the 20th Century. Through an examination of the
foreign policy choices of Switzerland, Ireland, Finland, Norway,
the Netherlands, Belgium, Ethiopia, Somalia, Vietnam, Bolivia and
Paraguay, this book concludes that realist theories built on great
power politics cannot adequately explain small state behavior in
most instances. When small states are threatened by larger,
belligerent states, the small state behaves along the predictions
of social constructivist theory; when small states threaten each
other, they behave along realist predictions.
