Sales drive the business world and the economy. However, sales in any business need to be managed to ensure that the business achieves its objectives. This is where the function of sales management comes into the business structure: it plays the key role of ensuring that salespeople succeed at selling. The profitability of the organisation depends on how successfully sales managers lead their sales force. The sales manager is responsible for the strategic planning of the sales force, which includes the management of the selling process and organising the sales activities within the sales department. With the third edition of this textbook, the authors hope that both industry and academia will be able to use the information to better understand and implement the different functions of sales management. Concepts are presented in such a manner that a student new to the field will easily grasp them.

A modern South African romance novel. It is set in Soweto, a vibrant black township, as well as in Sandton, the latter being a symbol of affluence. The novel follows Bantu, an advertising executive, and her husband, Mdu, an investment manager. Both work in Sandton but live in Soweto. Mdu wants to move the family to Sandton, believing it is where the rich belong. Bantu inherited the Soweto home, which is why she is skeptical of the move and its impact on their love and sex life. Personal and professional conflicts are explored, and sometimes they merge. Sleaze is one of the themes explored, as the skulduggery of modern love and business affairs is brought to the surface.
The new edition deals with the new legislation affecting the law of damages, including the Road Accident Fund Amendment Act 19 of 2005, the National Credit Act 34 of 2005 and the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008. A large number of important Constitutional Court, Supreme Court of Appeal and High Court judgments and academic contributions since 2003 relating to most fields of the law of damages in both delict and contract are examined in the new editions.
The second edition of Introduction to Business Management: Fresh Perspectives is suitable for first-year courses in Business Management. It covers core theory on the business environment, management theory, management tasks and business functions and is divided into four parts. Each of the four parts is introduced with an infographic that provides an overview of the topics in that part. Building on students’ existing knowledge, the ‘Before you start’ and ‘Think about it’ activities encourage students to think about key topics and to contextualise them. Up-to-date examples from private, public and nongovernmental organisations in South Africa help students apply concepts and at least two new case studies per chapter provide further opportunities for application. To support students, key concepts are highlighted and explained in a textbox, while vocabulary is promoted through a glossary at the back of the book. The review feature includes a chapter summary, critical reflection question, self-assessment questions and case study, with solutions provided at the back of the book. Prescribing lecturers have access to customisable test banks (multiple-choice questions, essays and case studies) with answers and PowerPoint® slides of the main ideas and graphic material in the textbook.
The Fifth edition of Marketing Management: A South African Perspective, the leading marketing textbook in Southern Africa, adopts a new perspective on the business environment and the way in which businesses can deal with changes in that environment.
What happens when prophets are wrong? In 2020, many Christians claiming to be prophets said that God told them that Donald Trump would be re-elected as president, which did not happen. What she does have is an ability to hit the ball as hard as she can and a strong desire to prove herself. With steadfast determination and one sacrifice after another, Alice plays her heart out on the courts of the rich and famous, at national tournaments, and—the greatest of them all—at Wimbledon, rising to be one of the top-ranked players in the world. But then her world falls apart. With the outbreak of war with Germany, Alice’s tennis career and life come to a screeching halt, and for the first time, she is forced to confront who she is without tennis. As she seeks to understand her new place in the world and how she can aid in the war efforts, a telegram arrives with devastating news from overseas. Heartbroken and lost, she feels like she can only watch as the war wreaks havoc in every area of her life. Alice is given the chance to fight back when the US Army sends her a request: Under the guise of playing in tennis exhibition games in Switzerland, she would be a spy for them. Alice aches for nothing more than to avenge what the war has taken from her and to prove herself against this new opponent. But what awaits her might be her greatest challenge yet. From her start as a promising athlete with worn-out shoes to her status as a glamorous international star, Alice Marble’s determination to control her own life and destiny fuels a story of achievement, discipline, loss, and love. Jenni L. Walsh’s Ace, Marvel, Spy brilliantly showcases the life of Alice Marble, a real-life tennis sensation known for her extraordinary talent and indomitable spirit. This fast-paced and action-packed historical novel spans multiple international settings and is enhanced by discussion questions that prompt readers to reflect on Alice’s challenges and triumphs, making it an ideal choice for book clubs.
How are we to explain the resurgence of customary chiefs in contemporary Africa? Rather than disappearing with the tide of modernity, as many expected, indigenous sovereigns are instead a rising force, often wielding substantial power and legitimacy despite major changes in the workings of the global political economy in the post–Cold War era—changes in which they are themselves deeply implicated. This pathbreaking volume, edited by anthropologists John L. Comaroff and Jean Comaroff, explores the reasons behind the increasingly assertive politics of custom in many corners of Africa. Chiefs come in countless guises—from university professors through cosmopolitan businessmen to subsistence farmers–but, whatever else they do, they are a critical key to understanding the tenacious hold that “traditional” authority enjoys in the late modern world. Together the contributors explore this counterintuitive chapter in Africa’s history and, in so doing, place it within the broader world-making processes of the twenty-first century.

Key point summaries of law and frequently asked questions (FAQs) are covered to aid understanding. The authors are highly regarded labour law practitioners and academics who have published extensively in this field.
Most of us have felt it: that unexplained prompting in our hearts to stop and pray for a friend, a loved one, or even a stranger. Sometimes we dismiss the feeling as a stray thought about friends, families, or situations. Sometimes we are even awakened from a deep sleep with an even deeper need to go to God in prayer. Where do those urges come from? Are they truly from God? And do those prayers have any effect on the one we're praying for? In Called To Pray, Linda Evans Shepherd shares dozens of inspiring true stories of people who have felt God's call to pray - and the astonishing results of those impromptu prayers. For those who wonder if prayer has any effect or doubt that God communicates with us personally, this heart-stirring book will amaze, inspire, and equip them to respond to those holy promptings. |
