Ms. Lawson was a credentialed teacher in California, USA, where she taught for twenty five years and for another thirteen years abroad, receiving accolades for her dedication to her profession and teaching expertise. Ms. Lawson has taught and tutored large numbers of students for many years, helping students who were struggling in their reading by using her direct and immediate approach to reading as presented here in this book with great success Her book, "Reading Made Easy" is a very valuable book and perhaps, the only one that will make the task of learning to read easier, better, and fun It will ultimately put an end to all the struggles that teachers as well as parents who are helping their children to read for the first time. Her ingenuity to produce a book that combines the two methods of teaching phonics for the first time: the synthetic and the analytic. The combination of these methods has remarkably brought great results with her helping hundreds of children learn to read. She believes that each child is capable of learning any task if it is presented to him very well, and her book, "Reading Made Easy," simply just does that for children who find themselves, struggling in learning to read for the first time.
The unassuming title "Home for Good" and the original motivation
Mother Loyola had in writing this book-that is, to help young
ladies who were finishing boarding school to make the right choices
in life-both utterly belie the groundbreaking significance of its
content. While Mother Loyola's King of the Golden City is charming
and entertaining; while her catechesis books are both informative
and inspiring; and while her devotional works are unparalleled in
their ability to reach the hearts of their readers, Home for Good
is a rock on which an unshakable faith can be built amidst the
storms and calms of everyday life.
Always beginning with prayer and concluding with song, the twelve lessons in this study book provide biblical instruction concerning: The Ten Commandments; Holy Baptism; The Apostles' Creed; The Lord's Supper; The Lord's Prayer; plus, Confession and Absolution.
The guiding pedagogical document for Jesuit education worldwide was definitively set out in a 1599 tome entitled Ratio Atque Instituto Studiorum Societatis Jesu, "The Plan and Methodology of Jesuit Education." This plan has been praised by scholars from Francis Bacon in the seventeenth century to Harry Broudy and Paul Shore in our day. Some scholars and educators, upon learning of this tradition for the first time, have called it a "best-kept secret." And so it was timely that, at the dawn of the new millennium, an invitational 400th anniversary celebration of the Ratio Studiorum would be held at Fordham University in October of 1999. The fruit of the scholarly papers presented there make up the substance of this book. In addition, two key documents of the late-twentieth-century renewal of Jesuit education are included in the appendixes of this volume. Both The Characteristics of Jesuit Education (1986) and Ignatian Pedagogy: A Practical Approach (1993) have been out of print in English and are provided here in full.
A blueprint for reform in the Catholic Church. The author draws on twenty-five years at the head of a young missionary order which he founded, and proposes a road forward out of the quagmire the Catholic Church and its priests find themselves in today. "Will there still be priests in the Church's future? Has not the time come for us to humbly inquire into the direction change should take?" So writes Mons. Massimo Camisasca. He dedicates nearly half of his book to silence, prayer, liturgy, and the Mass, and then moves on to discuss several commonly underdeveloped themes (study, fatherhood, common life, and friendship). He closes with three chapters on hot-button issues (virginity, women, mission) which he treats on the basis of the preceding reflections. With a preface by Mons. Brugu s, secretary of the Vatican Congregation for Catholic Education.
In 24 Hours That Changed the World, Adam Hamilton took us on a Lenten journey through the last day of Jesus' life. Now, in his inspiring follow-up book, Hamilton examines Christ s dying hours and his final words as seen and heard through the eyes and ears of those who stood near the cross. Moving through each chapter you will begin to understand and respond to Jesus final words at the cross while learning about those who were eye witnesses to the crucifixion. In the final chapter, Hamilton moves beyond the cross to Jesus' words to the disciples on the road to Emmaus and to those who were witnesses to the Resurrection. In 1992 Dick Gruber's Children's Church: Turning Your Circus into a Service hit the market, challenging children's leaders worldwide. Gruber's experience and insight have provided godly direction for the children's church service to generations of children's leaders. The practical application of that work is still being realized in churches today. In Cultivating a Cutting-Edge Children's Church, Gruber has reviewed and updated the core of his first book, adding more insights, more information, and more inspiration for children's leaders of today and for those of the future. This book will help the children's church leader develop a life-changing service in which boys and girls will be inspired to worship, develop ministry gifts, and respond to the work of God's Holy Spirit. Gruber's heart for children and those who serve them is evident on every page of this writing.
The battles people are fighting in the world today are many. Most people would admit that they are fighting something on several fronts. Though Salvation is secured to those who are believers in Christ Jesus, we need everything from God we can get to help us through our battles. The key word is "POWER." Jesus promises us that we will receive "POWER" when the Holy Spirit comes upon us (Acts 1:8). This book teaches about this power which one receives through the Baptism with the Holy Spirit. We are quickly approaching the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation which by "most" accounts began in 1517 with Martin Luther's 95 Theses and was completed (or ended) in 1648 with the Treaty of Westphalia. Moreover we are also approaching the 700th anniversary of the end of the Knights Templar with the burning at the stake of the last Templar Grand Master Jacques de Molay in 1314. So what better time to review both as they interrelate to one another? Did you know that "pre-Protestants" such as the Waldensians were being burned at the stake 300 years before Martin Luther's 95 theses? Did you know that the Knights Templar and their mysterious disappearance most likely played a role in the protection/germination of the seeds that would lead to Protestantism? As my Masters of History thesis I was told to tackle a "challenging" subject that might even go against the "status quo" of established historicity; not only have I attempted to do this, but I was dumbfounded by some of the discoveries I have found along the way linking the Knights Templar to Protestantism 200 years earlier than Martin Luther. *Even more awakening is how applicable and necessary many of these "monk-like" themes are today in our increasingly post-Christian world."The restoration of the church must surely depend on a new kind of monasticism, which has nothing in common with the old but a life of uncompromising discipleship, following Christ according to the Sermon on the Mount. I believe the time has come to gather people together to do this."- Dietrich BonhoefferJames Stroud has undergraduate studies in both History and Religious Studies as well as post graduate studies in Theology/History at APUS, Trinity Seminary, Biola and the University of Arkansas. Politicians in Washington are grappling with a soaring national debt that threatens our status in the world and, indeed our very future. The government funded by this debt is seen as too big and intrusive. Yet, eighty years of liberal progressivism have left us a nation ill prepared to face a future of less government. Even more urgent than the massive debt accumulated over the decades are the crumbling institutions left in the wake of the failed experiment of socialism. Americans sense that the old social contract of "cradle to grave" care no longer works, if it ever did. They know that anarchy is not a replacement for big government and are searching for a new world view. But the way forward will never be found until we understand how our nation fits within a higher purpose for all men and women. The Four Institutions of the Cultural Mandate provide this understanding and clarifies what the American people must do to secure our country's future. This book shines a light on these institutions and provides the new world view and the new social contract Americans are longing for.George Radanovich was elected to Congress in 1994. He served as president of the freshman class of the new republican majority and pressed the need for cultural reform to accompany the reduction in the size of government. A believer that politics and jurisprudence are downstream from culture, The New World Order is the Old World Order, is the culmination of his thirty-year effort to develop a new social contract based on cultural reform. He retired from Congress in 2011, after the tragic loss of his wife, and returned to his hometown of Mariposa, CA, to raise their 12 year-old son, rebuild the family vineyard and establish a foundation, The Four Institutions, to restore the institutions of the Cultural Mandate. Being thin will not make you happy; in fact, you will still have the anxiety you have always had about your weight. However, instead of worrying about being overweight you will be anxious about gaining it back. We have relied on the so-called dieting experts who are no different than the Pharisees in Jesus' day. They convinced God's people to spend vast amounts of money on keeping up appearances and were obsessed about dietary laws. Diets do nothing to change the heart and that's where the real problem lies. The solution isn't changing your food, but it is understanding and fixing the reasons you overeat and changing your wrong thinking into right thinking.

"Our citizenship is in heaven."-- Philippians 3:20 Have we lost our deep love and longing for the homeland of heaven? Do we need to refocus on our primary citizenship? Have we driven our stakes too deeply in earthly soil and become comfortable and cozy as earth dwellers? Even though we are living as temporary residents of earth, our primary citizenship is in heaven. This biblical concept is a mind stretcher-even a life changer-for any disciple who dares to take it seriously. It will challenge believers who may have never understood their true identity as resident-aliens on earth. Living in this world as foreigners is a common theme in both the Old and New Testaments. Thus, the Bible becomes our "Immigration Manual," informing us about the few years we spend as heavenly citizens in this earthly realm. During our pilgrimage in a foreign land, we must battle the temptation to settle down and fully integrate into the host society. No matter how many years we reside here, deep down inside, it never quite feels like home. Only when we finally enter the homeland of heaven will we really be able to say, "Ah, home at last "Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Lindsey Garmon holds degrees from David Lipscomb University (B.A.), Harding Graduate School of Religion (M.A.), and Austin Presbyterian Seminary (Doctor of Ministry). He has served as a staff teacher in a local church setting for many years, sharing the Word of God with adults who are eager to learn and grow spiritually. He and his wife, Sherrie, currently reside in Portland, Texas, and attend North Bay Church of Christ.
