2014 Reprint of 1936 Edition. Full facsimile of the original
edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. In this
classic work on the subject, Keith covers the selection, use, and
hand loading of revolver cartridges in various calibers. Keith
covers both revolvers that have remained popular to this day, as
well as many that were popular several decades ago and have since
fallen into obscurity. Elmer Keith uses his wealth of experience
with the sixgun to analyze and recommend the correct cartridges and
calibers for various situations. This is not only a manual covering
the practical use of the revolver, but is also a valuable reference
for anyone interested in the history and development of the modern
revolver cartridges.
My book is a narrative nonfiction of romance as well as thinking, a
real story which took place virtually when Ms. Jin and Dr. Ahn
toured in Australia and New Zealand together with other tourist
party. During our journey, there occurred so many things of
interest among our party members. As our party included some
intellectuals like professors, a medical doctor, a couple of
Vietnam War veteran(retired officer), two female teachers, and a
writer as well, we would hold a discussion with one another largely
over the matter of 'U.S.A. in Asia' in this pending era of G2, the
United States and China... Of the seven kinds of traditional
Chinese tactics and strategies, the art of war by Sun-tze has been
called the best, a magnum opus, and the so-called 'living national
treasure of China'. In both West and East alike, the spiritual
pupils of Sun-tze tactics and strategy have been called Napoleon,
Erwin Rommel(Germany), Kong-ming(China), Mao Zedong, Peng
Teh-huai(China: Korean War), Ho Chi Minh & Vo N. Giap(N.
Vietnam: Vietnam War). In the Korean War, General of the Army
Douglas MacArthur, the great war hero of historic Battle of Inchon
on 15 September 1950, was defeated by Peng Teh-huai, a subordinate
of Mao, unexpectedly in north Korea; and he was dismissed abruptly
from the service as 'Commander in Chief' of the UN Forces by Mr.
Truman on April 11, 1951. Despite its unrivaled hardpower of
military strength on the globe, Uncle Sam has fought against heavy
odds especially in the Orient ever since the end of the World War
II. And then, what's the fundamental reason for that ? How come an
American cowboy has got bogged down in the quagmires again and
again ? The reason lies in the fact that leaders in the Orient have
fought against U.S.A. with their traditional art of war by Sun-tze,
the oldest textbook for guerrilla tactics of irregular warfare in
Asia that is based on Lao-tze's natural philosophy of flowing
water: China(Chiang Kai-shek vs. Mao Zedong), Korea, Vietnam,
Afghanistan & Iraq, U.S. trade war with Japan, and even north
Korea... They have used it for both military and business or
management as well...The national archetype of American cowboy
people can be said to be their never-ending search for things new
and unknown-'Going ahead ' with their respective 'American dream'
in mind. Through the spiritual rise with his first cowboy esprit in
mind, centered on puritanical values and morality in itself, an
American cowboy could safely lead and rule the world('Manifest
Destiny') also with little fighting, by trying to take hearts and
minds of other people(soft power), just as said by Sun-tze in his
ancient art of war.
"The revolver as a factor in the development of America has never
received serious consideration, either from the historian or the
literary man. The former has neglected it entirely, while the
latter has neither understood it nor its true place in our national
life. Too frequently he has used it as his chief stock in trade in
portraying certain striking types of American men-the Texas Ranger,
the cowboy, or the bad man on horseback. The sensational
story-writers, the moving pictures, and even worthier literary men,
are loath to abandon this original idea." (Walter Prescott Webb,
University of Texas) These words were written in 1927, since which
time the topic has received more adequate attention, though mainly
from collectors and shooters of arms. Books written primarily by or
for them have thoroughly catalogued the various kinds of American
pistols and revolvers, including the Colt, but the significance of
these weapons in the context of their times remains an inviting
study. Make by make and model by model, this analysis is going
forward as new sources of information are discovered or become
available. It is the purpose of this book to detail the life story
of only one model of revolver, the single action Colt. Rivals and
ramifications extending over a century are involved in the telling.
For a collector there is ever the temptation to write in catalog
form, and I cannot claim to have avoided it altogether. Even an
historian or professional writer might find the material too
factual for literary treatment. My own endeavor has been where
possible to relate each arm described to its setting, and in this
way to bring out its import in history.
Mark Moremoney returns in this graphic novel adventure. He thinks
the Navy has screwed him over as bad it can at Naval Nuclear
Prototype in New York, but now that he's reporting to the U.S.S
CARL VINSON(AKA CARL PRISON) he's gonna find out he ain't seen
nothing yet. He's gonna have to dodge power tripping officers,
chiefs, and even his fellow blue shirt petty officers if he is
going to survive workups in 2002 and Westpac 2003 after that.
The intent of this book is not to scare anyone or to cause readers
not to travel. The intent is to give the readers some common sense
ideas on how to survive if they should become a victim of a
terrorist attack, and also to educate readers in conducting normal
everyday activities in a manner that will prevent them from
becoming a victim of a terrorist act.
Shooting to Survive is a must-read guide for responsible civilians
carrying concealed, law enforcement officers protecting
communities, and military operators conducting combat missions.
This is not only a book on shooting a pistol, but more importantly
a book on fighting with a pistol detailing the reasons for the
techniques. The techniques are designed around the response of the
human body when experiencing a body alarm reaction. Shooting to
Survive contains information from some of the best instructors
throughout the United States and internationally in competitive
shooting, private security, law enforcement SWAT, and military
Special Operations. Volumes of information that would cost a great
deal of money and fill a personal library are conveniently
assembled in this one book to inform and educate you on how to
fight with a pistol. Shooting to Survive is a 600-page book broken
into easy-to-read sections that are conveniently organized
providing an in-depth analysis. There are nearly 300 illustrations
and over 1300 endnotes. The techniques in the book on fighting with
a pistol apply to any brand including those with a decocker, grip
safety, or manual safety. The book also contains detailed
information about the internationally popular Glock pistols
BABY-PROOF-CHILDPROOF-BULLETPROOF, THE ROLE OF PARENTS HAS NEVER
BEEN GREATER. Roaming unabated, a serial pedophile spent every
waking moment pacifying his inner demons. Combatting illicit sexual
cravings, like self-medicating an incurable disease, required daily
heavy doses of hardcore pornography. A chilling account of an
eight-year-old child kidnapped and brutally murdered. Rising up
from a rural California town and striking back, a world-wide chase
ensued for a sociopath gone mad. No respecter of human rights-a
child's life. Leaving the United States and spanning half the
globe, the hunt would never end until coming face-to-face with
every parent's worst nightmare. A harrowing true-crime story
grippingly told by a team of detectives left standing. The story of
Maria Piceno is a testament of courage and faith-under fire. This
special child wouldn't go quietly into the night. Out of life's
hardest lessons, comes unforgettable sweet tender moments. Anyone
that has loved a child-this is a must read, no one can afford to
miss. You'll never be same: WHEN TOUCHED BY A CHILD
This early work was originally published in the early 20th century
and we are now republishing it. 'Handbook of the Gatling Gun,
Caliber .30 - Models of 1895, 1900, and 1903 - Metallic Carriage
and Limber and Casemate Mount' is a manual that provides
information on the construction and maintenance of a Gatling gun.
This is and excellent publication for anyone interested in the
technical aspects of weaponry.
Primitive Weapons Miscellany collects seven early papers on
primitive weapons like boomerangs, harpoons, slings, and blowguns,

examples of the weapons, and describe their use in hunting prey.
This volume includes facsimile reprints of The Cane Blowgun in
Catawba and Southeastern Ethnology (Frank G. Speck), Boomerangs
(Gilbert T. Walker), Australian Throwing Sticks, Throwing-Clubs,
and Boomerangs (D. S. Davidson), Distribution and Use of Slings in
Pre-Columbian America . . . (Philip Ainsworth Means), Sling
Contrivances for Projectile Weapons (F. Krause), Throwing Sticks in
the National Museum (Otis T. Mason), and Aboriginal American
Harpoons (Otis T. Mason).
Fragile Delivery: The Operation Babylift Crash is about the
horrible C-5A Galaxy Crash as it was attempting to airlift orphans
out of Vietnam on April 4,1975. It is the story of the life of
surviving Crew Member Phillip R. Wise and how he stopped asking why
and concentrated on meeting and fellow shipping with the adult
Babylift orphans.
Written by one of the foremost firearms experts of the twentieth
century, Charles Edward Chapel's Guns of the Old West is an
exhaustively researched document that not only boasts a significant
collection of antique Western guns, but also categorizes the
firearms into easy-to-reference sections.Starting with an
introductory chapter on the origins of guns and their earliest uses
on the frontier, Chapel covers everything from muskets to rifles,
pistols to revolvers, and shotguns to martial arms. Three whole
chapters are dedicated to the rise and fall of the famous Deringer
pistol. And as much as Guns of the Old West is an encyclopedic
reference manual, it's also fascinating historical literature that
frames the world in which these guns were used. Buffalo guns and
hunters are covered, along with martial arms of the post-Civil War
era. The gun collection of famous collector and hunter President
Theodore Roosevelt is given its own chapter.Illustrated with nearly
500 illustrations, as well as important artwork from the Western
period from artists such as Frederic Remington, Guns of the Old
West is an essential work for gun collectors and American history
enthusiasts.

Hatcher was a noted firearms expert and author of the early
twentieth century. He is credited with several technical books and
articles relating to military firearms, ballistics, and auto
loading weapons. His premier works are "Hatcher's Notebook" and
"Book of the Garand," along with "Pistols and Revolvers and Their
Uses" and "Textbook of Pistols and Revolvers." In the latter work
he introduced the Hatcher Scale, probably the first attempt to
determine the stopping power of a handgun round by a formula. He
was also a pioneer in the forensic identification of firearms and
their ammunition. Hatcher retired from the United States Army as a
Major General. Afterward, he served as Technical Editor of the
National Rifle Association's "American Rifleman" magazine.
