Have you ever wondered why, no matter how much you try to improve
your horse's way of going, it's a constant uphill struggle? I did
until I found out the saddle I was using was constantly working
against us. What I didn't expect was, once we found a comfortable
saddle, other things changed too. My horse became more comfortable
and compliant to ride and train even when he wasn't wearing it.
Looking back, I now also realise that most of the horses I have
ridden since childhood were being affected by uncomfortable
saddles. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. It's true, there are other
things that can prevent a horse going at his best but the saddle is
often the last thing to be considered when perhaps it should be one
of the first. I hope you will take this brief guide to heart and
seriously compare it's contents to the behaviour of your own horse
and ask yourself, is he trying to tell you something?
