1893. Fairbairn, British Nonconformist divine, delivered the Muir
lectures at Edinburgh University, the Gifford lectures at Aberdeen,
the Lyman Beecher lectures at Yale, and the Haskell lectures in
India. He was a prolific writer on theological subjects and
