It’s 1783, and Ross Poldark returns home from the American Revolutionary War to a country in the grip of recession and his beloved Cornwall is on its knees.
In his absence, his father has died, his land and mines have gone to ruin and his childhood sweetheart has become engaged to his cousin. Feeling betrayed by everything he loves, Ross has to rebuild his life, with a new business venture, making new enemies and finding a new love where he least expects it.
The dramatic and captivating landscape of the Cornish coastline is the perfect backdrop for this outstanding historical family saga.

Has none of the vibrancy of the last series made. The characters are insipid...if you want the watch this amazing story...purchase the older version.ITV are generally very poor at casting.
