Beautiful Deck but a Bit Dark

Wed, 1 May 2019 | Review by: Kathleen B.

I ordered this deck from Loot and when I opened it, I was sad to see that some of the cards were particularly dark. I'd heard from some people who had the deck that it shouldn't be so dark, but one other person said their deck was dark. I arranged an exchange. Loot was efficient in organising it and they sent a new deck. It wasn't much better. Yes, slightly improved, but still some of the cards were dark. But I love the deck so much, that I decided not to send it back. The art is still beautiful and it's only with a few cards that I struggle to see every detail. I think Llewellyn must have printed a dark batch. But other than that, I am really happy with this deck. The guidebook is stunning! It's a full book with beautiful pictures of each card, and the description of each card is detailed and often offering a new perspective on the tarot meanings. I love the herb correspondences given for each card. I didn't expect so much info in the guidebook and am pleasantly surprised. It also offers a summarised meaning and keywords at the bottom of each card description, which is great for interpreting a spread. I find this a positive and comforting deck to work with. The images remind me of country life in the late middle ages - rolling hills, homely houses, green meadows, and hay bales. Yet, despite the historical setting, I can identify with them. I can't wait to delve deeper into this tarot deck. This deck is great for any tarot lover, especially one who enjoys real art tarot decks and not the digital art ones. It's not just for witches, but it's great for those who are interested in symbolism and herbal correspondences. I think it would be a wonderful self-development tool and great for doing readings for others.
