ASTRAL CHAIN, a brand new action game from PlatinumGames, is coming
exclusively to the Nintendo Switch™ system!
As part of a police special task force, it’s up to you to fight against
mysterious, alien-like creatures who have invaded the world.
In the Ark, a multi-cultural city in the near future, disaster strikes
when gates to another dimension suddenly appear! Dangerous creatures
begin to emerge, attacking the people and polluting the land, and
normal police forces are unable to compete with them. To stand up
against these threats, a brand new, special police unit known as Neuron
is formed.
Choose between two playable characters – one male, one female – on your
adventure. The character you don’t choose also appears as your younger
twin, and a fellow member of Neuron.
In order to resist the creatures, humanity developed a special weapon:
the Legion. The Legion acts as your partner, and helps with your
investigations. However, it’s in battle where the Legion shows its real
ability...
Work together with the Legion and use all sorts of combat styles to
fight your enemies. You could both attack the same enemy
simultaneously, target different opponents, or send your Legion on the
offensive while you support it with items. Use this synergetic action
system to battle and explore together!
Making his directorial debut and known for his work as the game
designer on NieR:Automata, Takahisa Taura is responsible for the
concept and planning of ASTRAL CHAIN. Hideki Kamiya, creator of the
Bayonetta™ series, is in charge of supervision. The character design is
by manga artist Masakazu Katsura, creator of ZETMAN and Video Girl Ai.

Amazing game

I feel as though it is one of the best games available on the Switch. The combat is very interesting and fun. Some cases are a bit too long though if you want to 100% complete it.

After having finished Astral Chain with a playtime of just under 28 hours, I can firmly say that it is one of the best Switch games that I've played thus far. The combat is simply outrageous with how much fun it can be and there is a wide variety of moves and combos for you to pull off. The finishing moves are immensely satisfying and the animations across the board are also amazing. There were a fair few "jaw drop" moments for me during some of the sequences. Rest assured, the story is no slouch either. Whilst it isn't overly complex or in-depth, I don't think that's a bad thing, as it held my interest until the credits rolled. Getting to know the characters was fun as well, as they are quirky and interesting in their own ways. The game is also gorgeous to look at, with vibrant colours and awesome art direction. A minor complaint that I have, however, is that some of the chapters (the game calls them "Files") can be quite long and feel unnecessarily drawn out at times. For new players, the concept of taking control of both your character and the Legion may seem a bit intimidating, but the game has a difficulty mode called "Unchained Mode", which essentially takes care of the combat and makes it a lot easier, allowing you to focus on the story. Overall, I had a blast with Astral Chain and it's combat is some of the most fun that I've experienced in a game to date. If you're a fan of action-adventure games with doses of exploration sprinkled throughout and enjoy the futuristic, "cyberpunk" style and atmosphere of the game, I would definitely recommend it. Awesome game!
