The term 'landscape' was coined in an emergent capitalist world to evoke a particular set of elite experiences - a particular 'way of seeing'. But other people also have landscapes. They show how the cultural and political analysis of landscape cuts across many disciplinary boundaries and how perceptions of the land and its history are created, negotiated and contested.
