The best way to describe this flick would be a cross between
X-Men and the TV series
Heroes, just without the fancy uniforms, gadgets and flashiness. In all fairness, it emulates the TV series in look and style as well as over-complication in plot. And unfortunately, with too many balls in the air, the story loses focus sometimes.
There are some good moments though. Most notably whenever Dakota Fanning's character is on screen. She was only 14 at the time of filming, and as evidenced by her earlier roles in diverse movies like War Of The Worlds, I Am Sam, The Secret Life Of Bees and Man On Fire, it's clear to see that she has a very bright future ahead of her. She easily acts rings around the rest of the cast, although it's a pity her character doesn't get much opportunity to "display" her powers.
What starts out interestingly enough soon regurgitates into a "us against them" formula, and although there's a surprise or two along the way, the many directions you've headed in to get there could prove a tad distracting when trying to wrap your brain cells around what's happening and to whom. It's not all doom and gloom however, as there were some highly inventive action scenes and set-pieces and the Tokyo setting is something different for this genre. (by Carlisle Johnson)
Push burrows deep into the deadly world of psychic espionage where artificially enhanced paranormal operatives have the ability to move objects with their minds, see the future, create new realities and kill without ever touching their victims.
Against this setting, a young man and a teenage girl take on a clandestine agency in a race against time that will determine the future of civilization.
