People's basic values are shaped by major changes in
environmental conditions, such as scarcity of resources and
hostility in the political and socioeconomic system. Based on the
extensive research of the International Consortium for Management
Studies, this work examines the values and perceptions of a variety
of issues in eight countries with different socioeconomic and
political systems. Cultural, family, and workplace values are among
some of the critical issues discussed. A sequel to "Cross-Cultural
Analysis of Values and Political Economy Issues" (Praeger, 1994),
specialists in developmental, regional, and political economics
will find this a timely contribution to understanding emerging
developments in diverse cultures.
