After the death of his father, his mother marries the villainous Edward Murdstone (Gareth Thomas). When his mother also dies, David (David Yelland) moves to live with the Micawbers (Arthur Lowe and Patricia Routledge) and encounters the scoundrel Uriah Heep (Martin Jarvis).
