Because I Said So (DVD)

Diane Keaton stars in this unashamed Chick Flick that the ladies will probably enjoy; I dunno. As a healthy heterosexual male myself: my advice to others of my persuasion, is: you have been warned!

Daphne Wilder (Keaton) is the prospective matchmaking wannabe mother-in-law from hell! Even if (like me) you look like an ageing Quasimodo, you’ll meet at least one “Daphne” in your lifetime! Trust me on that one. She has three very pretty daughters. Two of them are happily married, and she’s now doing her darndest to get the third, Milly (Mandy Moore) hooked up with someone she considers to be the “right” man, as soon as possible. Why, she even places a personal ad for her still-single daughter! The fact that she (Daphne) has always been unlucky in love herself doesn’t exactly endear her to any guys who may be watching the film, either!

Believe it or not, this is what the Americans bill as being “a romantic comedy.” Then again, maybe it is…

Comedy starring Diane Keaton. Daphne Wilder (Keaton) is the proud mother of three daughters: stable psychologist Maggie (Lauren Graham), sexy and irreverent Mae (Piper Perabo) and insecure, adorable Milly (Mandy Moore). In order to prevent her youngest from making the same mistakes she did, Daphne decides to set Milly up with the perfect man. Little does Milly know, however, that her mum placed an ad in the online personals to find him. Comic mayhem unfolds as Daphne continues to do all the wrong things for the right reasons.
