Beth MacLaird, the beautiful daughter and apprentice to a skillful
doctor, is prepared to fill-in as town doctor in Winona, Minnesota,
while her father and brother serve the Union Army. But Captain Adam
Brentwood, in search of the Army doctor he believes to be a
criminal, is totally unprepared to fall in love with Beth. War rips
apart Beth's family, as it does so many men's bodies, until finally
the lady slips into men's clothing and marches onto the gruesome
battlefield herself in an attempt to put back together as many
lives as possible. But will Adam ever recover the wildflower he
lost? And can they ever be the same again?
