Growing up, kids need a sense of place, and that sense comes from a
feeling that they belong to a home, a family, a community, a
landscape. In The Anhinga Tree, a work of fiction, three kids who
happen to be cousins embark on an adventure that reinforces their
sense of place and their connection to one another. And what a
place for an adventure We travel with the kids on the roads and
canals of Fox Trail, a great place to live that is located between
the edge of the Everglades and Lion Country Safari in Palm Beach
County, Florida, on the way from the Atlantic Ocean to Lake
Okeechobee. And our time with the cousins in Fox Trail is only the
beginning of the adventure. Illustrations and maps by William A.
Mann illuminate the journey.
