This is a story about the impossibility of the real Robert E Lee
being somehow transported in time to the present, on the eve of the
last day of the Battle of Gettysburg. He meets John Buford, and
together they grapple with the impossiblity of it. Eventually they
resign themselves to it, and even embrace it. Lee reveals many
personal things to John that he never told anyone before, including
a romance while he was stationed in Texas before the war. Lee askes
for information on the conclusion of the battle. John tells him,
but becomes concerned that Lee may be able to return to the battle
and change his tactics to change defeat as we know it into victory
for the South. The story concludes with an interesting and even
plausible revelation as to how this time travel encounter could
have actually happened. The author expands on Einstein's theory of
relativity, to the possibility that history, too, might be
relative. Just as time itself is relative.
