The author takes the reader through a glimpse of what it was like
for her while taking a class in poetry writing. She also reveals
the types of poems she was writing before she took the poetry
writing class. Her poems take you through a roller coaster of
emotions from "Tragedy and God" to "Free as a Bird." During her
journey of writing and reading she rediscovered the words of the
great Langston Hughes, and it inspired her to write about her
blackness and her family stories, and it opened up her heart to
write a letter to reconnect with her daddy, who left this earth
much too soon.
