Winter can be a frustrating time for a lively pig; the snows have
fallen and it's perfect for sledging but where are his friends?
Hedgehog, Tortoise, Squirrel and Dormouse are all in bed
hibernating and poor pig has no one to play with. There is an
obvious solution to his dilemma, and this very amusing story
follows Pig's attempt to stay in bed until spring, but really,
whoever's heard of a hibernating pig? The illustrations are
energetic and colouful, with Pig depicted as a very jolly porker
who is far too irrepressible to ever keep his head on the pillow
for more than five minutes. Pigs are very stubborn animals, though,
and this one proves to be very inventive in passing the time until
his friends wake up. Pig is a very entertaining character that
should charm the pants off any young reader who likes a giggle; he
even has a new word for our vocabulary, Oinkadoo! Hopefully this is
not the last that will be seen of Pig and his pals; they deserve a
lot more outings in better weather. (Kirkus UK)
Poor Pig - all he wants to do is play with his friends, but, being
squirrels, hedgehogs, a dormouse and a tortoise, they have all gone
to sleep for the winter. So Pig has the grand idea of going to
sleep himself.
