These papers present the latest research on the cities monuments from the arrival of Willibrord and Boniface and the establishment of the Bishopric. Twenty-seven papers, all in English cover the early history of the city, a comparison with England at the time and essays on St. Martin's, Wilibrord's cathedral, and the cross of churches. Other essays look at 12th century sculptural iconography, manuscript production, fonts, secular architecture, the Gothic cathedral and its history up to the reformation.
