Documentary about the changes in farming from the beginning of
World War I to the 1960s. Using archive footage and accounts from
those who worked the land, the programme shows how agricultural
life declined as Britain endured two world wars and economic
depression. Gradually, however, the land became an important source
once again, though the farming industry had significantly changed.
