The image is loosely based on Sir John Tenniel's frontispiece illustration for the 1866 edition of Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. The original image did not feature Alice herself, but was added here to better illustrate the conversation between Alice and the Queen of Hearts in the final scene of the story.
