The story of three journeys I made in the 1960s, on both sides of
the Iron Curtain. To Poland, with a group from the Co-op, as guests
of the Polish Cooperative Society. To East Germany, with a group of
kids from Lauriston Road school, where I was attempting to teach
mathematics, to a class of kids, who would rather be outside
playing football, or netball, or doing anything, but learning
algebra, geometry and trigonometry. I must admit, I had some
sympathy with their point of view. To Greece with my then
girlfriend, Carol; who later became my wife. And later still, my
ex-wife.
