Driven by a tragic family loss and then a sense of trying to
belong, the main character survives a harrowing wartime experience,
and by good fortune, marries the nurse that took care of him when
he was wounded. He returns to a new home, a new family and a
business career. Then he has a chance meeting with a man he met
during the war who belongs to an active shadow political
organization. The character becomes politically connected and is
elected a United States Senator from Texas. He begins to rise in
popularity and speaks out about the economic, domestic, oil,
immigration and international issues that parallel the present
concerns of United States citizens. Meantime, the shadow political
organization flexes its behind-the-scenes muscle. A momentous
series of events occur that will change the history and direction
of the United States political scene for years to come.
