Overboard - (1987) (English & Foreign language, DVD)

Starring Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, this romantic comedy is surprisingly good. Idly rich; selfish; spoiled and totally dislikeable: Joanna Stayton (Hawn) and her stinkingly rich husband Grant (Edward Herrman) have their luxury yacht stuck in the rural hamlet of Elk Cove, Oregon, for repairs. Joanna passes the time by hiring carpenter Dean Proffitt (Russell) to remodel her closet. Dean puts up with Joanna's demanding attitude, only to have her refuse to pay him because she dislikes the type of wood he used. When he demands payment, she shoves him overboard along with his tools. However, that night, Joanna herself falls overboard while searching for her wedding ring... and loses her memory completely! Dean gets to hear of this... and decides that it is now payback time!

To say more would spoil the story... but some of the situations that he places her in are very funny indeed - and satisfying to us, the audience, at the same time. One could say that much of the plot is predictable (which is quite true)... but it all glides along so smoothly that one cannot help but delight in it all as it goes along!

The cast includes veteran former child actor Roddy McDowell as Joanna's butler on board the yacht. Although by this time in his 70's, many still remember him as the young boy in the original Lassie Come Home. As Joanna's husband, Edward Herrmann has very little to do... but he makes the most of the limited opportunities he does get.

Arrogant heiress Joanna Stayton (Goldie Hawn) lands herself in a heap of trouble when she falls overboard during a cruise with her husband.

She is rescued by handyman Dean Proffitt (Kurt Russell), a single parent in desperate need of help with his four obnoxious kids, and as she has lost her memory, is in no position to object when he claims her as his wife.
