This turned out to be more exciting than I was expecting. Thanks, mostly to the amazing fight sequences, and astounding special effects. This storyline was kind of weak, with many a glaring plot hole, but the excitement and pace of the film makes it a non-issue, almost.

Samuel L. Jackson as the villain puts in a great performance, as one would expect from him, and this role is something new for him. He doesn't ham it up, and his character is truly menacing and evil. But, Hayden Christensen is terribly disappointing in the lead role, and one feels he was cast only for his 'pretty-boy' looks. Rachel Bilson as his love interest and Jamie Bell as a fellow 'jumper' fare much better in this action-packed visual treat. ( 3 out of 5, by Carlise Johnson)

The epic adventures of a man who discovers that he possesses the exhilarating ability to instantly teleport anywhere in the world. From New York to Tokyo and from the ruins of Rome to the heart of the Saharan desert, anywhere is possible for David Rice.

But he soon discovers his freedom is not total and that he's not alone. Instead, he finds himself part of an ongoing, global war that threatens the very survival of his rare and extraordinary kind.

An interesting blend of the Python team's comedy-drama Time Bandits of some years back; Buck Rogers; and The Matrix, the story is of David Rice (Hayden Christansen,) a 15-year-old student who, after accidentally falling into a frozen river, discovers he has the ability to "jump", teleporting to any location he has ever seen. He is, in fact, a "Jumper", a small gifted group of people, who are forever being hunted and killed by fanatical religious fundamentalists knows as Paladins. Roland Cox (a worthy role for Samuel L Jackson) is the Paladin's leader. David's girlfriend is Millie Harris (Rachel Bilson - a sort of younger Catherine Zita-Jones lookalike.) David later teams up with fellow jumper, an English fellow named Griffin (Jamie Bell) with the aim of killing Roland before he and his men can eliminate them. While in pursuit of his aim, David - to his horror - learns that his own mother (Deane Lane,) who deserted the family when David was still very young, is a Paladin! There's some very spectacular scenic photography. Yes, the plot is predictable, but there's still plenty of action...and it's all lots of fun!
