later, of the lyrical verse of the popular 19th-century German
romantic poet CHRISTIAN JOHANN HEINRICH HEINE (1797-1856). With

Schumann, Franz Schubert, Felix Mendelssohn, Johannes Brahms, and
Richard Wagner, it is chiefly as a lyricist that he is remembered
