In the Beginning is the first book in this Just Like Brothers
series. It explores the lives of two six-year-old boys and their
families from different walks of life during their journey of
discovery and friendship. This timely tale shows how children are
open to finding common bonds even when others may not have the same
vision. The story is brought to life with engaging full-color
illustrations on every page by internationally-known artist James
Lynch. Rudell's background as an art specialist in several private
and public schools, as well as her theatre experience, enhances her
ability to evoke emotion in an endearing fashion. Her inspiration
for the series comes from her hope that people everywhere will look
within and reach out to others despite differences, whatever they
may be. Just Like Brothers...Summer Adventures will be released in
July 2009, with others to follow as Rudell chronicles children's
