Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time.
Before they were arch-enemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known.
In the process, a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto's Brotherhood and Professor X's X-Men.

While this is my favourite installment in the X-Men series, mindless action junkies might not share this sentiment. If you care only for explosions and don't want your heart and mind to be engaged, perhaps you should watch the old X-Men movies on Bluray instead.
This film explores the human condition through an unbiased narrative of the stories of Charles Xavier (Professor X), the noble and humanistic mutant who strongly believes in peace above all else, and Erik Lensherr (Magneto), the good yet troubled victim of circumstance who strongly believes in justice above all else.
What is good and evil? This movie explores this question in a thought-provoking, stirring and utterly entertaining way.
As a side note, Henry Jackman, protege of the great Hans Zimmer, has written a beautiful score which in itself makes the movie worth watching.
