1826. Jane and Anna Maria Porter were English romantic novelists of
Irish descent whose works have been translated into several foreign
languages and gained for each of them some measure of success.
Though Anna Marie began her writing career at age 13 and wrote
throughout her life, it was Jane who achieved more lasting fame
over the centuries. Jane co-authored this work with her sister Anna
