1924. Leighton writes that this book is a humble contribution
towards the New Reformation, a modest prelude to the dawn of a new
cultural synthesis which will mean a new religious synthesis, a new
ethical synthesis and a new social synthesis-one in which the light
of science will be vivified and energized by the moral and humane
values implicit in the works of Jesus and his greatest disciples;
but a synthesis which will include the ethical and social
implications of our new knowledge of man, nature and their
interrelations which are the fruits of science. The Contents are
divided into three parts: Religion and Culture Today; The Religion
of Jesus; and The Validity of Religion.
