While not as well known as Haydn's masterpiece "The Creation," his
work on "The Seasons" is considered one of the links from the
classic era into the romantic era at the start of the 19th Century.
Written near the end of his life, "The Seasons" took two years of
disciplined work, and the freshness he imbued gives it a fresh
quality that makes it one of the most popular oratorios even to
this day. This DVD presents Helmuth Rilling conducting the
Gachinger Kantorei and Bach Collegium Stuttgart. Beautiful shots of
nature are intercut with the film and the director features
exciting and fresh editing, lights and camera angles.
